What techs do I need to improve Expantion Dissaproval, and Un-happiness from planets. Could you lead me to a previous post on gettin more approval, and the techs I should allway focus on? I'm just on my second day playing ES, and it's kicking my butt on happiness... Thanks in Advance! smiley: lol.png" alt="smiley: smiley: lol" title="smiley: lol" />

If you look in the research section, on the left side there are techs that have a pink triangle in the top right corner (they are along the bottom section of the left side). These techs are items you can build to make a SYSTEM happier. The first is Endless Supermarkets, co-discovered with Epigenic Crop Seeding -- unlocked with Botanical Scanning

Also, look in the bottom section. There are techs there that have an EMPIRE WIDE reduction in disapproval (sorry for the double negative, but thats how ES calls it). The picture looks like a person surrounded by different things - see Applied Atmospheres, also co-discovered with Battleships (Orbital Counseling is the name). Generally, all these EMPIRE WIDE reductions are on the center and left side of the bottom tech tree until you get to the last one (Dark Radiation Towers).

GL on learning this game, its fun if you can hang in there.

Your question is pretty much answered by eqronis, but some more advice one this.

Be careful which planets you colonise and how many. It's often a good to note luxury resources as gaining access to those can often give better results in a shorter space of time than it would to research and build system improvements that give happiness.

Lastly. balance your tax carefully and build ships/system improvements (which cost dust/turn to keep) wisely.

Last point with tax, sometimes dust improvements aren't worth building. Any system improvement that gives dust is modified by tax. I think 50% tax gives 1:1 returns, but I'm not certain (there is a guide somewhere about tax). So if your tax is currently around 25-30% it might not be worth building certain dust generating system improvements unless you've got 4+ population in that system. Otherwise the upkeep might be greater than the revenue generated + wasted industry to build and further unhappiness due to needing to adjust tax.

Good luck in your quest for happy systems.

I should probably add that each planet type has an Approval Modifier that remains until you terraform it to a higher tier planet. If you are having Approval issues, colonize less of the barren/lava type planets until you have more tech unlocked to build those system Approval Improvements.

Also, dont colonize multiple planets in the same system in the early game. Its much better to colonize other systems first, then go back and start colonizing the Higher Tiered planets in systems you have already colonized.

A big time Thank-You.

I'm still playing on easy. I had to lock out pirates because they kick my butt, I'm lucky to have 1000 hp in a fleet at about turn 150 on slow play. The pirates show up with about 2000+. Maybe they could put in a easy setting in the game set-up. I'm going to search the site for voting and game suggestions.

Again Thanks smiley: smile

Enjoy learning the game! Playing on the easier levels gives you a chance to experiment and learn.

It is always skimming a tech tree in a game and getting a feel for it. Better yet, sitting down and playing the game and putting the techs into practice. Once again simply playing the game repeatedly allows you to understand the game depth and details. You will come round to this understanding soon enough and start kicking real ass.
