I have done a ton of research on custom factions...Problem is most of the information is out dated...there are so many builds out there that I would love to try...but the point system has been changed and anyone I try and make im like 85/65 with no negative I would want to add....

What Im looking for...I am a very new player but I can deal with a steep learning curve...I just want a good solid build..that would be good for a new player and even better for an advanced player. I don't really care what Race I am...

Things I know I like...I know I need to have Optimistic 2/2 or would 1 work? Is there another way around this.

I want the Legendary Hero...do I need 2/2 to get the lvl 3 right off the bat...I want to get a good administrator so I can get my labor and all that other stuff up.

The whole Blockade Barrier, Merchant and so on stuff interests me...seems you can make allot of money that way by mid game. Im not saying I need a whole guide on how to play the game I have the strat guide and read a ton on these forums...I just need good builds that actually work since the last patch....So I thank anyone that takes the time to post the build they like....even if It is not something I listed on some of the things I was looking for...please post anyways..I am open to every idea no matter what type it is. I really hope out of the whole community on here that a few people take the time to help me out. If you don't wanna post here just private message me...Thank you so much. Look foward to seeing some interesting builds.

Legendary Heroes can essentially be viewed as "bonus levels" to Heroes. So 1/2 will have them start at 2, not 3. Myself, I don't actually use it ( And usually end up taking Micromanager instead). Other suggestions: Use the Hissho or Amoeba affinities, they're the most powerful. Never take any trait that has a negative effect on Science. Use Crowded Planets for more FIDS. Endless War can be good for ten points off if you intend to kill everyone anyways.

Beyond that, just take traits catered towards however you intend to play. Or, just have fun and make a silly race!

Micromanagers has been changed, as has Legendary Heroes, since 0.46. Micromanagers no long adds upkeep to Heroes whereas Legendary Heroes does, this essentially means that early game Micromanagers is probably going to more beneficial (particulary for low Dust builds).

I'd say that, on average, while the Hissho and Amoeba are good the Automatons have the best affinity/racial tech combination. But that does revolve around your play style.

Never take any trait that has a negative effect on Food either ^^

Crowded Planets is fantastic, as a rule of thumb take one rank of Cloning also. That bonus food helps early-mid game growth and late game Industry a great deal. Particularly on systems that have many Asteroids/Gas Giants.

Endless War is really good if used correctly, Blockade Breakers is used with it to good effect.

And Romeo is correct, there are a few powerful builds out there but the playstyle for each of them is too specialised to really enjoy the game, and also subject to some serious potential penalties. You're better off doing whatever it is you do, as you want to do.

Smaller galaxies should reduce if not eliminate the need for Optimistic. Given the bone headed way happiness is calculated your punished for simply have a bigger playing field.... because in the ES universe ALL RACES ARE THE SAME... meaning if a blue Popsicle makes a humanoid race happy it obviously makes a machine race happy too.... so do yourself a favor, play a smaller galaxy size. Legendary Heroes are okay provided you don't have to restart the game a bazillion times to get the admin heroes most people want, I find that the first two levels of heroes growth comes pretty damn fast, a new planet will usually impart enough XP to level them at least twice. Sometimes I will reassign them to guarantee win fleets to accelerate them too.

Candack29, you have posted your thread several times in different sub-forums: I closed all your other threads except this one. Please refrain from doing so again in the future. Thank you.

Here's a build that is focused on gaining an early edge:

Black Thumbs 1/3 (-10)

Blockade Breakers 1/1 (15)

Cloning 1/3 (5)

Dust Archeology 1/2 (2)

Dust Impaired 2/2 (-4)

Eternal War 1/1 (-10)

Feeble Warriors 2/2 (-5)

Huygens Rings 1/1 (5)

Legendary Heroes 2/2 (24)

Merchants 1/2 (8)

N-way Fusion Plants 1/1 (4)

Optimal Structure 1/2 (10)

Sloppy Sawbones 2/2 (-4)

Strong Alloys 2/2 (20)

Legendary Heroes gives a nice early boost, but if you're willing to do without, here's an alternate build that would be better in the middle and late game:

Blockade Breakers 1/1 (15)

Dust Impaired 2/2 (-4)

Eternal War 1/1 (-10)

Feeble Warriors 2/2 (-5)

Huygens Rings 1/1 (5)

Merchants 1/2 (8)

Optimal Structure 1/2 (10)

Optimistic 2/2 (25)

Sloppy Sawbones 2/2 (-4)

Strong Alloys 2/2 (20)

Optimistic is not required, but it is very helpful when learning the game - that extra +20% approval in every system helps cover for mistakes. And this build gets rid of Black Thumbs, which doesn't matter much in the early game, but slows system development in middle/late game.

Note: both the above builds assume Amoeba affinity. If you take one of the other affinities, you will likely have an extra 5 points to spend.
