How does diplomatic victory work?

Take a look at this thread for some pointers.



Honestly, in my experience diplomatic victory is the least practical victory condition. You can spend the entire game trying to appease everyone and get nowhere; the only time I won a diplomatic victory was when I was almost constantly at war. Very diplomatic of me. After I declared war at about turn 40, five of the six AI players decided they really liked me for waging a long, drawn-out war with their enemy. Their approval and my diplomatic score skyrocketed. I had access to a wonder victory well before this (roughly 30 turns before), but I wanted to at least try winning with diplomacy, albeit aggressive diplomacy.
