Haven't really played much in a while, was curious if we are still food oriented or industry? I saw that I can gift my admin guy or such with big food bonuses (they actually look better than the old industry bonus)... but was curious if people still are set on food exploitation until full in a system or have moved to something else.

*Shrugs*

Usually If I play a food heavy race like the Cravers or Horatio I won't bother and will just go for the industry.

It really depends on the situation. Usually the first planet in a system should get a food exploit, regardless of what type it is. Until you get a good sum of food in the system, it is almost always the most valuable.

Once you have a decent population on the system, *most* of the time it's best to just put the exploit on that gives the biggest bonus i.e. tundra, lava get industry exploit, arid and desert get dust exploit, etc. but again it depends. If the system has arctics with almost no industry on the system, you might want to take the industry exploit just so that you can get some improvements built. If your empire is broke, consider the dust exploit, but keep in mind tax rate and distance will cut that in half. Also, if you set a system to a conversion, industry exploits are a bad choice. Later in the game, check to make sure you don't have food exploits on max pop systems.

With the late technology Dust Virtualization, you can produce more industry by specializing in food, than by specializing in industry.

Yeah, that's a really awesome tech if you don't win before you get it.

This would be a useful tech, if it wasn't so late... I don't think I've ever gone that far up that branch except when going for a time or science victory.
