What does "+x due to appreciation for your pacifist restraint" mean?

and what are the actual conditions?

Well the actual conditions you just mentioned, not going to war, not having gone to war, not attacking empire ships and outposts (maybe)

Interesting thread. Frankly, I think that the number of diplomatic bonus points for not unleashing the dogs of war and blowing away another empire should be significantly larger than it is now (in v1.0.66).

For example, in my current game I'm constantly annoyed at how, every turn, my formal ally's unease over my overall expansion is smacking me with -200, but my pacifist restraint only nets me +40 in our dealings. I've gone to considerable lengths to promote and nurture that diplomatic alliance, and the #1 bonus-point source is dwarfed by a factor of 5 by the colonial exodus and industrialization of many new worlds that I need to create the future resources necessary for fighting off other factions that are presently in my face?! And that very same insufficiently-rewarding mix of points is from the Automatons, whose race already has a built-in diplomacy skill boost. I can't imagine how bad that diplomatic bonus/malus split would look when coming to me from a non-allied neutral or leaning-towards-hostile neighbor! Oo

Ah, I forgot that they are best on less planets... my single player game against them didn't prove them justice when they had the second biggest empire (because they conquered it from our friendly neighbourhood craver)

I've got to agree with prof. there; positive modifiers are easily outweighed by the negatives.

And thanks for explaining folks smiley: wink
