Hello guys,

As most if not all of you may know, AI difficulty doesn't really change with the difficulty settings. It only really decreases your FIDS while increasing theirs. Now with this, Alpha AI were extremely powerful, while these ones are pretty lame (no offense smiley: stickouttongue). Do you guys think the AI need a buff, either Alpha level or just small buff?

Never played in alpha, but I agree the AI needs to be smarter rather then getting immense bonuses.

Trouble is, this applies to all 4x games... writing good AI is quite challenging, look how long it took, and the millions of man hours, just to make chess competitive. In comparison, chess is very primitive to ES, so it takes a lot more thought and work.

I'm hoping Amp. can keep their AI writers to write new AI for ES2... if so, that is likely to be a good step forward.

A.I. needs to scale. The current is okay for anything up to normal. After normal it needs to get better with each successive level.

As far as I'm aware, there is no 4x game that does that. The higher levels are all about factions getting bonuses of various types.

Not just for 4X games. Almost every game, if not ALL games, have pretty bad AI (outside of chess and the like at least) because AI is a hard field

Just this. Understanding an human can be hard enough, making an machine to act like an human, is much harder.

Amplitude has not stopped working on the AI. Future patches and especially the Expansion are supposed to improve the AI a lot.

Keep in mind that the Boni the AI received where drastically reduced when Rise of the Automatons came out. So if you think it was better before that, that's because it's bonusses where much more insane (even on normal).

Boni? And they were also a lot more aggressive before that. A while ago, I saw a thread where a guy noticed that now the AI almost never attack, they mainly defend their own systems.

I think what they could improve is the diversification of weapons and adaptation, which are already good but as some people pointed out ai almost always will go for just 2 or 3 builds, one other thing would be prioritizing colonies, for example skip some lava and barren planets and look for jungle/ocean/terran first and colonize these, also I find that they almost never build improvements on other systems other than their home one, I find myself capturing their systems, even ones close to their home one and they have almost no improvements except for the approval ones, but not always, I could be wrong and that's not how it works instead when you capture a system you "pillage" their improvements and have to start over but I don't believe that's the case here, the AI just refuses to build improvements and they just colonize anything they find without any prioritization.

My 2 cents.

Bonus is from the latin (second declension, masculine), the correct plural of which is boni...

The problem with adding more and more weaponry, is that it actually makes it harder and harder for the AI to cope. More weapons = more variables, and more problems. For a human, often more weapons = more interest... I'm hoping that the AI can cope with these new ships that are coming in, as that will complicate battles considerably.
