I've noticed some planets let you terraform to a certain type of planet. Why can't I terraform a Jungle to Lava? Am I missing something?

Also, I've been analyzing the Endless Space Strategy Guide and I don't know if planets were changed because of Disharmony, or there's some hidden stats I'm not seeing. The strategy guide suggests using the following terraforming guildlines for producing the best Industrial Production system:

When I look at my top Industrial Production system, my terraforming options are as follows:

Desert:

-10 Approval on Planet

+1 Food per Pop on Planet

+1 Industrial per Pop on Planet

+9 Dust Per pop on Planet

Arctic:

-10 Approval on Planet

+1 Food per Pop on Planet

+1 Dust per Pop on Planet

+9 Science per Pop on Planet

Tundra:

-5 Approval on Planet

+2 Food per Pop on Planet

+6 Industrial per Pop on Planet

+2 Dust per Pop on Planet

+2 Science per Pop on Planet

Jungle:

+4 Food per Pop on Planet

+4 Industrial on Planet

+2 Dust per Pop on Planet

+2 Science per Pop on Planet

Ocean:

+4 Food per Pop on Planet

+2 Industrial per Pop on Planet

+2 Dust per Pop on Planet

+4 Science per Pop on Planet

Am I missing something, or wouldn't the best option be Tundra with the +6 Industrial per Pop? The Endless Space Strategy Guide shows Desert as a better option than Tundra. From the looks of it, Desert planets are better Dust producers.

1st. You can only terraform within the same tier, or 1 tier higher or lower. So you can terraform a jungle to an ocean, terran, tundra, or arid. To get to lava you will have to terraform to tundra or arid.

Things have changed with disharmony regarding fids. I'll attach a spreadsheet some other forum member created who I can't remember to attribute it to!

That being said a general rule is that the tier 1 planets offer better food, happiness, and just overall are better general planets. Each tier you go up gets more specialized. If you are looking for pure production gas methanes are your best bet.

/#/endless-space/forum/29-archives/thread/13129-exp-balancing Here are the planets you want for FIDS in a easy to look way.

And as was said you can only teraform in Tiers so you can simply turn a Terran planet into a helium gas giant you need to do Turn it Arid or Tundra then Artic or Desert then Lava or Barren and then finally you can make it into a gas giant.

Now emphasis is more on a mix off a food planets to support the gas giants because they produce by far the most of a specific FIDS resource.

And asteroid are still kind of meh... I mean you get that upgrade that gives you like +40 science or something in the system where you have an asteroid but it still pretty meh.
