Help I am confused.



I am getting this message even though my fleet is around an enemy system and have been there for 10-20 turns. I can attack his fleets as they come in but the invasion button is greyed out. An ally also has a couple fleets in the system. Can he be blocking my invasion? My influence also may be reaching this system i.e. the disc would reach this system if the enemies influence wasn't pushing back on my influence. Do either of these explain it? And yes I have troop carrying ships with 7480 invasion power.

If there are any enemy ships orbiting the system, you cannot invade. They will not halt your invasion, but they can prevent it from starting.

2 possible things I see in your post.



1. you can attack and destroy one of his fleets per turn if you only have 1 fleet at your disposal. If he has more then 1 fleet in orbit and brings in 1 or more fleets per turn you wont be able to "clear" orbit which is a requirement to invade his system.



2. its possible that another AI or player is already invading the system. You can recognize this if theres a dotted ring around the system. The color of the dot-ring will tell you whos invading at the moment.

I had this problem trying to take over an outpost.



There were no ships present.

I had cold war status.

my influence had already covered out the enemies influence completely.



I think what happens is because its a "neutral" outpost, and you already have influence covering it, it thinks its already your outpost. I solved the issue by declaring war on the opponent and could then click on the "invade" button, still no enemy ships were present so no fight ensued.
