Empty queue

A quick question, i can't find something clearcut about it in the forum. If I missed and left empty the construction queue in a system, is there some resource saved which will kick start the next project when i put one, or is it 100% lost that turn?

I ask because in science if your queue runs empty after searching an item, you don't lose the points: just chose a research topic, and the points are there, already starting where it was left. I thinks it's not the same about production, and looking to validate that.

Not always easy to ensure there will be something there, like if you queue some ships, they can run out and surprise! One turn lost. In a desperate war situation like i am in, it may mean a lot... One of the benefits of the automation in my opinion.

Thanks in advance!

But as I remember this topic is not exactly correct, because non automaton races could save production, but only for one turn

Quick example for planet with 50 production.

turn 1. Build somthing for 45 prod.

turn 2. Starts with 5 prod. saved, forget to choose something (empty queue), pressed end turn

turn 3. Starts with 50 prod. saved, could build anything up to 100 prod in one turn.

Thanks Rinin! So it looks like if you check on your production every turn, even if you miss a queue, it has no consequence as long as you add again an item before hitting next turn again. That's quite cool indeed.

mmm... now I'm trying to switch the thread to ANSWERED but cannot figure out how, I don't see an option available, even when "editing" my first message... any suggestion?

Just to confirm that i've checked it and indeed as long as you don't miss it more than a turn, leaving an empty queue preserves the resources. Actually quite nice if you want to build a colony ship or colonize a planet in the system, you can avoid missing growth. Mmmm actually would need to be tested... Let's say my queue indicates item X 1 turn and assuming some overflow of construction, and nothing after. I want to start building a colony ship after, meaning zero pop growth. My system will grow one pop next turn so i don't want to miss that. Shall i wait next turn and add it to the empty queue, or it makes no difference if i already queue it?

This introduces quite some micromanagement, and is oarticularly relevant for the Harmony, as each ship building impacts growth of population.
