Mac, Endless Space + Disharmony.

Playing as Sophones (sp?)

Without any discoveries, right in the beginning of the game, I have two hull types. Both experience the same problem.

First, when I add a new design, it comes already with some engine, which is grayed out. I can not remove it.

But then, if I try to add another engine, (level one or level two) and instead a support module is added. I can click on actual support module to add it, and another support module will be added. As if engine is treated as support module, and the default engine is not removable/upgradable. Why?

The reason I want to remove the engine is to build a colony ship that colonizes the same star system. But I can't. I think I could in the past (in vanilla upon release)

Well, engines are classified as support modules. But are you saying that a different module altogether (Ie, Armor) is added instead when you click the + symbol? What should happen is that you can see the engine on the diagram "light up" and display more movement points smiley: speed

And the default engine is not supposed to be removed, and is inseparable from the smiley: industry cost of the base hull, so it can only be upgraded. This is because you don't need a colony ship to colonize another planet in the same system. To do this, simply click on the planet itself (while in the system view, not galaxy view) and click the 'Colonize' option. It still costs industry and people smiley: stickouttongueopulation: but is more effective then making colony ships, which are generally only used when colonizing an unclaimed system.

And I am fairly sure it wasn't possible in vanilla either, but you are free to check by looking at the bottom right corner of the Main Menu and clicking Switch to Classic smiley: wink

OK, the problem is mine interpretation of the display (or bad display). The support module power, has the same icon as generic support icon. I did not realize that when you add engine then it shows power icon in support box meaning that it is not power, but general support module.

Saying that, I do wish that the icons for power and "general support" icon be different. Simply the level of charge in the icon can be modified to indicate that it is not necessarily power support module. So, it is not "bug bug", but rather design bug.

You are probably right that one can not remove engine even in vanila. I played too many space TBS, that I probably confused it with some other game.
