End Turn Game Freeze/Stuck Multiplayer BUG

There is a general issue regarding Multiplayer De-synchronization when the end turn stuck/freezes in case AI players are involved (or maybe without AI players too, im not sure). The end turn gets stuck and basically every control except chat is locked so you can only alt-F4 the game.

I have read numerous Forum threads about it and most of them are marked as SOLVED, but for some of them there is no answer. Is this the case really solved? I have played last time Yesterday with the game in Multiplayer, trying with a friend and still at turn 65 we got stuck and after reloading again at turn 68. (total 8 players - 6 AI)

Reloading does not help because we will still get stuck after a few turns again. I have read making constellations: few, and disable background download etc. but none of them works. I also read that the latest update 1.1.48 should have solved the issue but as stated it did not.

I find this issue really critical and frustrating, it literally destroys the multiplayer portion of this awesome game... I was thinking, maybe if a developer console is available, there should be a command to retrigger the end turn, but so far i have found nothing of sort smiley: frown For me this seems to bee a server issue and not a client problem.

Does anyone else have this issue ? Is there any resolution for this ? Please help.

This is the number one issue that I hope gets solved. I love multiplayer ES, but I have just about given up playing it since the last big patch.

Yeah but it's a number one issue for years now. I mean what the frak, i have played a million games and none of them had an issue like this. I want to love the multiplayer but if we get stuck every 5-10 turn or so than it's no fun, we just gets frustrated and rage quit or rage delete the game. I really appreciate that the game gets new updates new, but the one update i want to see in the change log is:

-Fixed an issue where player were NOT ABLE TO PLAY THE ♥♥♥♥♥ING GAME IN MULTIPLAYER because of frequent de-synchronization issues.



It's more frustrating since I’m a fan of this Company and love all their games, but this issue overshadows the whole game. Whenever i think about Endless Space the first thing gets in my mind is "oh yeah the game which you cannot play multi". And that’s no cool.

I made a thread of this very issue more than a year ago. Being too lazy to dig my own thread up I decided to contribute on this thread instead.



The game tends to desync between turns 59 and 61, sometimes a tad later. I think the farthest me and my friends have managed to play without this happening is at around 80 turns. Anyways this desync results in the scenario Gecinyuszi described. The save gets corrupted and there's no work-around. You have to start again, which isn't really tempting as this will happen again, sooner or later.



I would really like some more focus on finding a fix to this problem. I understand it's easier said than done, but you're riding the donkey with its front legs tied with rope. This should be and should have been your number #1 focus since it came up yet here we are, 1½ years after I bought the game, experiencing the very same problem. I'm sorry for the rant, but I really don't understand how something as crippling as this can go untreated and seemingly unnoticed for such a long time?

Thanks Vulgrim for sharing. I agree with you.

If you see your thread a forum admin actually commented to send more info (game save, system info etc.) so as i did here you should as well upload save files, log files and your system information.

Also, i was contacted by Amplitude developer Antoine Flavigny via e-mail (because i have also e-mailed them about this problem) to send the same information, which i did. The e-mail was at december, exactly a month ago, so i will try to follow up now if there is any update on this since i have provided all the information they wanted/needed to investigate what can be the issue.

Though i don't get i why they treat this as an individual client issue reagarding my configuration. It's not. It's clear it is a general issue worldwide with the servers as i have read a 100 posts/threads having the same just as we here.

Anyway i hope that i will get some answer/feedback from the devs via mail on this if they are not watching this thread, and i will share what i could find out.

But I gave up my hope on this. Game is getting old, probably to much work, they tryed it several times maybe its just to hard to solve no idea.

I didn't know an admin had commented there before my second reply. I did follow the thread for a couple months, but quit after that. I'm glad that it got attention (I.E replied) but as the answer came with a 10 month delay, I don't have any saved game files to share anymore due to reinstalling Windows. Therefore I hope this one will get all the attention instead so that some other user might give the required information in case an admin shows up.



I would play another multiplayer game with my IRL friend just to get another corrupted file, but the friend I'm talking about (the same individual who got me to play Endless Space in the first place) deinstalled the game shortly after losing every of our several saves to the de-sync. I think he's in for games mainly for their multiplayer part (unlike me) so ES had little to offer after what happened. Or at least that's what I believe. Oh well, he's a happy Endless Legend customer nowadays.



EDIT: New update came. Vaulters for everyone but unfortunately still no fix for the de-sync.

I'd like to add my voice to the crowd here too.



This is a great game hobbled by this one bug.



My mates and I are constantly checking this forum and combing every changelog just waiting to see "-multiplayer de-sync fixed".



If it was resolved we'd be playing all the time.



Amplitude devs; we want to keep playing this game for years to come, please fix this or at least give some indication that it's being worked on.



Failing that, please just let us know that it isn't being touched so we can get on with our lives :/

I think it's quite obvious they won't let us know that they aren't going to fix it if they aren't going to fix it. That would be bad for business. Actions speak louder than words and until I see it fixed I take it as a token from Amplitude that they don't see fixing their old game's multiplayer worthy of their effort. That's the general problem with one-time-purchase products; the interest of the product provider tends to end at the event of the purchase.



Being an economics student I'd like to remind any Amplitude worker who might be reading that relationship marketing is critical in customer retention. Were I to buy a rotten apple from company x without either getting a refund or a substitute, I wouldn't buy another apple from them in the future. In a nutshell taking no action to fix game-breaking issues such as this is going to hurt the sales of your future games as well. I'm not requesting a refund or a substitute as the singleplayer of ES is great, but seeing a bug/glitch like this going seemingly unnoticed will make me think twice before purchasing another game from you. I.E What if it has some game-breaking issues as well that are not being addressed?



I sure do seem like to rant, but at the end of the day I'm only trying to get this problem fixed. I love you guys for the great game you've developed! smiley: smile

Thanks for the many replies and support guys. I agree with you and we should stick together.

I have e-mailed Amplitude and Antoine again if there is any update. I quess our only hope is keep bumping this thread and sharing our frustration. They haven't get back to me since, but will update this thread if i have any resolution.



Does any of you have Endless Legend also ? is that game suffers the same problem in Multiplayer ? I have it but only played single so far, so just wandering.

Hey Guys. So Antoine got back to me via e-mail, and this is the reply i got.







Hello,



Unfortunately, I have no more information about it L I have given this thread to the technical team. It seems that issue is known and the team has worked on it during the early access and after the release. There isn’t one single bug, the fact is that there are so many different desynch cases. When the players report the issues and send us their files, it’s still hard for us to reproduce the precise issue and so to fix it.







At the moment, all the Devs are working really hard on Endless Legend and Dungeon of the Endless.
