Hi,



So I am having sincere troubles with running Endless Space on my machine. When I start the game, the screen will just turn black and nothing will happen.



Now I did read the forums and googled a lot. The so called solution seems to be to add the "novideo" tag on startup options. This does work, but this doesn't seem to be an honest solution. I want to see the Iceberg and Amplitude logos on startup.



So let's get this straight.



I am running a

Win 10 64 bit OS

8 GB RAM

Intel Core i5 4200

GeForce 450M



Here's what I tried.



Re-installed Endless Space

Re-installed VCRedist

Re-installed DX

Re-installed graphics drivers

None of this would solve it, so I took the hard way out and did a clean re-install of my whole machine.

Then I downloaded the latest Codec pack.



Nothing solves this problem.



By the way. Oddly, when the black screen appears, I lock my PC by pressing Win+L. THEN I'll hear the intro movie sounds. When I enter my windows password, I will only see a purple screen. Then the loading screen and Endless Space launches.



What's happening?

Compatibility mode for Win 7 might help, but it's no guarantee. Endless Space was developed to be compatible for win 7-8, and win 10 has been causing nothing but issues.

lol! Thank you fellow wanderer, never have I had any positive experience with compatibility mode on windows, but this time it solved it. Thank you!

Haha good to know, the only alternatives I had were finding the videos in your Steam folder, or watching them on Youtube before every game launch.
