Even though I shouldn't have, I pretty much wasted the last 2 days on the multiplayer mode of ES, it is actually a lot of fun and it is the first 4X in fact which has a multiplayer I genuinely enjoy. But there are a lot of issues with playing random games online. Primarily players and sometimes even the host leaving the game in the middle for no apparent reason, and then, somehwere in the middle of the game you are pretty much left alone to play with the AI again. I suppose everyone playing online already encountered it at least once. Wouldn't it be nice to meet up with fellow gamers who are beyond the stage of experimenting online where leaving is somewhat common and sometimes a little understandable? Well I made a group solely dedicated to that, the Multiplayer Organizer

And there is something more, what about having a tournament? And for anyone wondering, that idea indeed was already around, with a beta tournament, but somewhat slow organization of said event and somewhat fast devs which brought the game to the release state already made the project slowly freeze of. But now the game is released and I think we should make at least a few small tournaments, with enough people joining maybe even a big one.

Feel free to share your feedback or ideas here or in the group.

We should also add a section dedicated only for multiplayer mode on this forum so the community can easily organized every other future tournaments

An official tournament sounds good, and the devs definitely should give an unique award to the winner(s) smiley: cool

I've heard they refused to make a dedicated subforum, for fear there will only be threads like "invite me to your game" etc.

That's also one of the reasons I made the group, people can post topics like that there to find other players.

May I suggest making an ES multiplayer Steam group to help get this going? Since ES is a Steam game, it's very easy to see who is online and willing to play. It's also a good place for everyone to simply congregate.

Well, it could be a heavy moderated area but if it devs decision, so be it

the problem is that not all people know of it existence. If we not get a dedicated subforum, then at least we should have a sticky thread dedicated for multiplayer.

Just to put info, link, steam groups and other stuffs

Excellent idea! We should create a dedicated ES multiplayer group or at least ES group in general

Has anybody create them yet?

Still, we need a sticky thread to post those links and stuffs since many new threads are created every day considering the game's steep learning curve.

Leave it for a while and it might be pushed back to second page.

4X game that last for hour like these needs to be organize to be played efficiently/

Yes they definitely need to be properly organized. Also I'll make sure to keep this thread around for a while, at least long enough for the group to become a known meeting place for online players.

Forum groups get quickly forgotten, they are at best a list of interested names. Steam groups are not much better. Setting up organized play requires either extremely interested members, a well automated system, or a lot of agitprop.

It's not that bad with groups actually, a decent level of activity is very well possible. The big problem with groups is that you have to manually check all of them for new stuff, you can't subscribe to the groups nor can you see the topics in your control panel, if that would be possible things would be a lot different. I'll suggest it some time later this day.

I tried to start a group for this, not enough interest at the time, I hope this does better.

Joined the group BTW.

My recommend is to play with friends in private multiplayer. There is no leavers only fun ^^

User around here barely know each other since the game just released one month ago.

But as the community grow and people started to know each other, I think it will be easy to organize multiplayer events.

The problem with any multiplayer events organise online (with no official moderation on monetary prize involvement) is that many problems can arise. Regulation will mostly rely on an honor system, and organisers have to maintain (even though it's supposed to be for fun, come on it's the internet) interest in players throughout the tournament to minimise players dropping out on short notice throughout its duration.
