Seriously.

I'm really, really sick of the desyncs and other problems with Multiplayer. Its hard enough to get a decent MP going, I'd like to be able to play at least 50% of the games without having to worry about reloading due to desyncs and the like.

I agree! It's hard to appreciate new things if you can't even do the old things. Reloads don't even fix some of the things in some cases, because you might not notice for a few turns and then there's no more autosaves to fix it.

Seriously? Making requests/comments like this shows a distinct lack of understanding of the software development process. Amplitude knows that multiplayer isn't 100% yet, they have someone working on it. Give them time!

That said unless the multiplayer is reliable I won't be buying the expansion as that is the majority of what I play.

I understand your sentiment, but with all due respect, when did it become a players job to understand the software development process? If anything, it's the software developers themselves that don't understand the software development process, as last time I checked, testing that the software functions as intended should be part of that process. That's what they get paid for, or should I say that's what WE paid for.

I completely agree with you that given time, it will all come together, and they have acknowledged the problems and that they are working on them. Indeed, the MP desyncs have improved a great deal in the past few updates. I just don't think it's fair to take a dig at player for not knowing the development process, and they should be allowed to vent their frustrations that the game they paid for doesn't work as the developers said it would.

Fine, forget software development. Name a product that possibly could stop development/evolution to fix technical issues without giving up on the future of the product.

Unfortunately, not all people working at Amplitude is a coder, they can't just lay the rest of the team off while the coders do their magic. So that mean the rest of the team keep adding more stuff, diverting some of the coder's time to merge it in. Content is a lot faster to make than patching up code, especially if the bugs are deep in the engine and they have to basically redo large chunks of it to fix it.

As a software developer myself, I understand the process thoroughly, and the stresses involved in it. However, sometimes you have to take the hit and make your customer base happy and re-write those chunks of code. I love the concept of this game a lot, but its pretty much unplayable in multiplayer unless we deal with severe data loss which makes it unfair for other players. On a business stand front, it doesn't seem smart to me that things like that should go unfixed, as you're alienating a large part of your customer base.

Pretty much agree with what has been said, no point in buying an exp pack if game still contains all the bugs that cause freezes, crashes, and desyncs. I'd rather have patches that just balance out the game and fix bugs, than content patches.

I don't know if there is any solution for this. I know several other games that suffer from long standing bugs while content keep pilling up (one that comes to my mind is World Of Tanks, new content every month but fixes to gameplay issues can take half a year or more), i don't know if any other developper has found a way to deal with this.

Typically relatively minor/rare bugs take a long time to fix for many games. Bugs that cause multiplayer (or singleplayer) to not work are usually hotfixed in almost every game I've played so far. I understand that it takes a long time to fix bugs, but it would be much better to do that first rather than add new content.

The only problems ive had with multiplayer nowadays is the occasional server disconnection after 80 turns or so. Of course i do have a bug from time to time (I should really report them). One bug i cannot understand is my UI on planets messing up; it leaves a ghost of the population meter on the planet which stays still and moves with the planet but when i hover over the planet the 'ghost' stays and i get the actual population popping up... its annoying but not game breaking which is lucky.

Were you running a mod at the time? I did have that issue in one of my previous version of Fair Fight and it was due to some typo/missing parameter in some of the xml files. If it happen in the stock game, that is another story...

It has happened in both, master and modded, it unfortunately happens in SP and MP.

I'd say frequent desynchronizations and data loss of multiple turns are not minor/rare bugs.

Haven run into that problem since i fixed my buggy modded files. Are you still using an old savegame? If so, get rid of it, it's corrupted since the patch.
