Is there any plan for dedicated servers or at least LAN play?



Since a few updates ago I'm having connection problems (%updating bug), and all I really want to do is to play with my girlfriend. This requires no steam servers since we're sitting next to each other, and having a local server (or LAN support) would resolve all our connectivity problems.



Maybe put this feature to a vote in Game2Gether?

Seems as if they're not planning to support LAN games... The idea was brought up often in the forum but they don't seem to like it.

Well then, is there a good position to lobby for this feature? Maybe through some more posts in this thread from people like me who would really appreciate this option?

LAN / Direct IP sure would be awesome. It's very annoying how often our games keep getting interrupted because of Steam going offline due to "server maintenance," or even from the slightest hiccup.
