I cannot, for the life of me, figure out the 2D placement of the textures for planet mapping! When i go to create a texture for a planet, the textures, obviously, need to line up on all sides so that you don't get annoying missmatch lines. What orientation was used in making the planet textures?

I thought it was this:

However this turned out to be a bust as i got missmatch lines all over the place.

Can someone help me out here?

Hmm ok, gonna try it out. By the way, is there any program or plugin that helps in matching up the edges of the textures? It's a bitc..... annoying to do it by hand and blend.

STILL got missmatch lines... GRRR WTF... I blended the thing on a 3D cube to make sure everything matched... So confused.

Hi Iblise,

This is how we prepare a planet source texture :

And how we cut this image in separated files :

the only "tricky" thing is to rotate (180°) the Bottom texture.

Hope it will be usefull!
