3000GS

The first colony ships and their guardian scouts leave the home planet of Victory, under the leadership of warrior-general Shizko Whitehawk. Industry on the home world has been re-assigned almost exclusively to food, prefabricated housing and essentials, with plans to supply the likely-inhospitable worlds and systems we are sure to find. The initial colony ship is inhabited by mostly labourers, women and children in cold sleep, with the men of their clans serving aboard the Hawk-class battleship that accompanies them.

Just over a decade and a half of exploration, and only now do we find a world capable of supporting our people. Whitehawk’s men have sent word of a small, cold world that is otherwise fertile and pleasant in orbit of a red giant star, and not a moment too soon – both the colonists and the warriors could not stand cold sleep for another year or two without risking permanent physical harm, and their mental states would surely suffer is forced to continue their work awake for the entire journey...

The new planet, now marked on our records as 3019-T2-GE, has been successfully colonized with industry, agriculture and general civilian settlement all in place. We clearly struck luckier than we expected; the planet is rich in extremely valuable metals which will be a boon to industry and munitions production, and has given our colonial scientists reason to believe that not one, but three planets within orbit of a nearby blue star are also viable candidates for settlement using the new colony as a basis for small-scale terraforming. New colony ships are now under production on the home world, and colonist enrolment has opened up to all who are willing and able. It has taken two decades of work, but the Hissho have finally laid down the foundations of a galactic empire.

The new colonists have already left and are on their way to the blue star, with Whitehawk’s fleet accompanying them once more – the man has been invaluable to the protection of our people these past few years. Also of note, our scientists on Victory have made a significant breakthrough in isolating a high-density deuterium in the rings of our planet, possibly leading to future advances in n-way fusion power. The isotope has been nicknamed “hyperium” due to its mass.

The new system is taken, and the home world is awash with activity as a result. With three moderately-sized planets and two moons between them available for use, industrial and scientific bodies from across the clans are vying for the rights to claim land for their own purposes. On top of which, the system (currently being nicknamed Azure due to its star) appears to have two anomalies just outside of its gravitational radius – nobody’s quite sure what these are, but the current theory among scientific circles is that they are the apertures of wormholes connecting to other stars otherwise inaccessible from our own systems. Expansion is accelerating faster than we had expected it to, and oh the wonders we are slowly discovering...

A scientific breakthrough! The Ministry of War put massive funding into the Azure Research Front under the reccomendation of general Whitehawk, to the end of unlocking the secrets of the twin wormholes of the system and possibly finding new planets upon which we can establish colonies. One method that was employed involved a hyperium-powered laser being fired directly into the eye of the aperture; the responces of the anomoly and the distortion of the beam would give a mess of data that would-... in short, the test itself gave us data that will take a few years of analysis before we can expect results. However, the beam itself appears to have viable military applications as a weapon... and the Ministry of War plans to make use of it.
