The Backstory

A full-scale rebellion has broken out amongst the worlds of the United Terran Empire. Already, dozens of star systems scream "Tyrant!" and have rejected autocratic rule in favor of democracy and equality.

The Empire, afraid to lose its grip on its colonies, declares outright war against the rebels, sparking an immense war that will see war like the races of the universe have never seem before.

Unable to do it alone, the rebels, now calling themselves the Universal Republic, request assistance from te many non-humans they have made contact with. In excange for a safe place within the republic to trade and live, the Republic requests aid in times of war.

Who will win this war? Who will live and die? Who will suffer the greatest? YOU DECIDE!

The idea is this: an enormous fiction set in the Endless Space universe. I call upon YOU, the people free forums, to help write this! The backstory above is all you need. Everything else is up to you! I will create a wiki site where the "official" story will go, but for now, post your campaigns/characters/battles/stories below!

Will the Rebels gain the Horaio as an ally?

Will the Sophons join the United Empire in exchange for tehnology?

Will the Horatio join in the war as a third faction, taking advantage of the two sides' time of weakness?

Write something! If it fits the theme, leaves room for expansion and doesn't contradict earlier canon, it'll be added to the story!

Seeing as we're starting with what is essentially a blank slate, I'm open to pretty much anything!

Just a few rules:

No wiping out races! Unless they are minor, fan-made ones created for this story.

No automatic win/lose scenarios! We want to keep this thing going as long as humanly possible.

Don't contradict previously established canon! I'll be putting up a wiki site so everyone can see what's already been written.

Be creative! Creative, damn you!

Spread the word! We want as many people on this a possible!

The Craver Swarm:

Location: Next to Hissho, Sophon and Amoeba space.

Factions: 3

The Iron Minds: Tenacious, Bloodthirsty and unified.

The current Craver superpower possessing 25 different systems and the selected party for inter-species communication reguarding the Craver Swarm, currently waring with pirate groups and rouge Craver states.

They possess mid level technology for the Craver race, focusing on the use of many medium sized battleships to spearhead their fleets supported by one or two capital ships.

The Children: Diverse, stalwart and slightly honorable.

The number 2 Craver power possessing 21 different systems, but they are looking towards a war with the Aomeba.

They possess low level military technology but are close to being able to terraform to T3 deserts, soon giving them a possibility to replace the Iron Mind's as the current super power, They focus on the use of huge destroyer fleets to swarm enemy systems, often disregarding the use of defenses entirely.

The Locust: Insidious, cowardly and untrustworthy.

The last major Craver power only possessing 6 systems, but are the only Craver power willing to negotiate actual peace with the other races, giving them leverage in international politics, they are currently looking inwards at the Craver Swarm, observing the competition.

They posses the best technology known to the Craver race (Possibly with the assistance of Sophon anarchists) and are known to deploy huge capital ships in face of opposition.

Octavian's Dynasty: Honourable, Contraversial, Battleborn and Battleready.

A family dynasty of generals and governers, formally part of the Empire itself. Unsatisfied with the Emperor's decision, they choose to side with the republic rebels, despite the fact that they believe in constitutional monarchy- something the rebels disapprove. One of the strongest family lines in the empire that holds a big part of the empire's army, the splitting of the Dynasty proved to be a big blow towards the UE.

Endless Reps: Religion Crazy, Faithful, Loyal, Follows a set of rules.

A cult consisting followers to the amount of billions. They accept any species, as long as the individual agrees with their views. The Endless Reps believe that they are the chosen of the Endless, made to recreate, reproduce, follow and worship what the Endless did. They sacrifice their lives into the search for Endless artifacts and technology, hoping to bring back the Endless to the modern universe. As faithful worshippers, their armies would be more than willing to use their lives to fight for their beliefs, starting many crusades to retake back Wonders from anyone, UE or UR etc.

Donnay: Wise, sparce, few, strong.

An argument between Automaton colonies caused a fracture of beings. A small amount of Automatons, believing in more of revenge than the humble ways of rebuilding, decided to break away from their nation and lead their own group. As masters of building and mechanical work, the technology are advance and terrifying. Despite the small amount of followers, they are capable of causing havoc in systems they arrive, taking revenge on all the species that have left them to die on their own. (could elaborate)

I'd say Horatio would end up like mercenaries, fighting on both sides. Just a suggestion. Oh and link?

Well the Terran empire in the story was in control of around 200 systems, and I am not sure the game supports much more then that?

It would also be interesting if we set up a game where we have custom factions of UTE and UUE + sub factions etc. And where we set it up on multiplayer, and planning out the colonization, tech research military power, fids etc. then open it up to the public for people to play as factions. Then using this multiplayer game, we can record what happens and write the story itself out of it.

Btw, Octavian's dynasty is not horation, but more of a Split UE. So as for Donnays, they are automatons.

Noticeable Craver Fleet number ideas (Adjust as necessary smiley: wink)

The Iron Minds: 3 Dreadnaughts, 106 Battleships, 234 Cruisers, 1567 "Smaller" ships.

The Children: 1 Dreadnaught, 22 Battleships, 34 Cruisers, 3244 "Smaller" ships.

The Locust: 20 Dreadnaughts, 0 Battleships, 5 Cruisers, 345 "Smaller" ships.

Combined major/minor powers: 0 Dreadnaughts, 6 Battleships, 42 Cruisers, 756 "Smaller" ships.

Other: Approx 26,000 Pirate raiders.

Combined current Craver Armada:

24 Dreadnaughts, 134 Battleships, 315 Cruisers, 5912 "Smaller" ships and 26,000 Pirate raiders.

Cravers currently know of these races: Hissho, Sophon, Amoeba, Sower.

And 'fortunately' are currently In a ceasefire with all of these races (Although the Sowers weren't living in the area, just passing through.) while they deal with internal problems like unrest, unhelpful piracy, surviving populations and the precipices of Craver Civil war between the Iron Minds and the Children.

The result of such a war will decide the future of the cravers and the surrounding races, and could possibly create unexpected political problems for the rebels according to shared Amoeba intelligence files if the affected races were to be allied to them.

Edit: But if a corridor in space was provided through Amoeba territory into Terrain empire territory (Going by the lore here:http://thousandyear-war.wikia.com/wiki/Universal_Republic), the it is plausible that the Terrain Empire might find themselves with a little bug problem. smiley: twisted

Well I'm sure in an infinite universe, there are more than 200 systems :P

But what we CAN do is have little galaxy-by-galaxy battles. In fact, I'm doing that in my current game! Currently allied with a Hisso and Sophon force, with the UE skulking our borders, ready to attack at any minute.

Feel free to take screenshots of galaxies and use them as places in the universe. Just be sure to provide some minor details (number of systems, faction with the most population, etc) or even a major campaign!

I am new to this forum but I felt intrigued by this very thread and hoped I could contribute more in the future. smiley: redface

The La’ Braun Collective: Militaristic, Inquisitive, and very beautiful

Founded by the Terran governor Augusts La' Braun of Xxucos (su - khos) are a small sect of Horatio that was formally belonged to Horatio has exchanged hands thrice between The Hissho and The Terran Empire. Renowned for their history of former slaves to the Hissho, turned armed militia, then on the advent of Terran conquest, turned Super Soldiers. For having developed their own brand of Hissho fighting style that would make their former masters blush with envy and a level of cybernetic augmentations that would make The Cravers feel barbarous. Now serving as the Emperors special forces they have proven to both the rebels and the Republic that the toll to pay for freedom is far to high when they are the ones to collect.

Note: Further details on their background will be added on a later date. Till then I would like hear from you guys lol

Interesting idea you've got there, but remember the Empire is Xenophobic (so the Horatio would not be used as special forces for the Empire) though they could be their own force.

And for everyone as a whole--anybody got ideas for major events/campaigns?

A Craver Civil War

A Hissho Crusade

Horatio Spec Ops

Sophon: The great data bank robbery

Empire siege of the rebel shipyards

Sower/Automaton preemptive war on the Craver swarm

Ideas like that?

Darn I thought they are counted as human in a certain degree. Oh well back to the drawing board smiley: frown

And as for the campaigns, may I suggest an offensive committed by the republic. (aiming for less on game mechanics)

Heres the synopsis:

Despite the Republics abundant resources, able-bodies, and aid from their allies they lacked the necessary strategic resources to stand up against their well-equipped superiors such as Siderite and Hexaferrum. More importantly on Siderite for it could be used to reactivate the endless installation the Sensor Array on the system Scicre for it could be used to intercept invading Imperial fleets and if possible contact the farthest reaches of the galaxy the empire has yet to conquer. Thus the invasion of the system Egeo is needed for its poor reserve and remoteness allowing it to be viewed as an unimportant raid for a poor resource that is common (on the Empire's point of view) granting them time to repair the array and further modify for galaxy-wide communications.

Will there be a willing ear to aid them on their fight?

Will they see this as a sign of weakness and stand as a threat?

Or will they simply turn away and lay in the dark?

And that concludes my synopsis.

I hope this isn't excessive.

That sounds good! Write up summary of the events (see the wiki for an approximate lenth) and submit it!

Also, don't be constrained by the game mechanics. The Empire has control of over a hundred systems after all :P

Technically, they are, but they're a faction outside the Empire, therefore the Empire hates them :P

Those sound good, especially the Data bank robbery, Hissho crusade and Shipyard Siege. The otehr ones are interesting, but we're looking primarily for Rebel/Empire conflict, though if you could spin it in such a way that either of those factions would gain/lose from it, go ahead and write it!
