Welcome to HUMANKIND™ OpenDev!

"Getting feedback as early as possible from our players has always been our way of creating the best games we can. In fact, we designed the GAMES2GETHER platform and program 10 years ago to fill that missing link between our dev team and our players.

Today, we're very excited to present OpenDev: a new way for players to get early access into our developing games so they can help us make sure we're on the right path.

We're really excited to try this out with HUMANKIND™ -- we're looking forward to your feedback on our most ambitious game yet!"
- Romain de Waubert

WHAT IS OPENDEV?

OpenDev is our new approach to community-driven game development. It allows you to join the dev team and help shape the game during its production.

Starting June 13th, register and get a chance to get access to 3 time-limited scenarios focusing on specific core features of the game (exploration, tactical battles, basic city management). Each scenario concludes with a game design survey that will help our dev team level-up the game!

REGISTER NOW!

Fill the form below and get a chance to be one of the first to play HUMANKIND™ . Once selected, you will receive a confirmation e-mail and the game will be automatically added to your Steam library. The number of players who get access will be increased as we release new scenarios, so stay tuned!

UPDATE August 13th, 2020: Today, we will send the last wave of OpenDev invitations for now. The sign-up form will remain open until Monday for future OpenDev-related opportunities.

Registrations are now closed. If you want to stay up to date on Humankind news, you can sign up for the newsletter at Humankind.game

Thank you to everybody who participated in the OpenDev program.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How can I join?

By signing up/logging in to Games2Gether, you will get access to a registering form. After answering a few questions about your gaming habits and PC specifications, you will be registered on the waiting list. If selected, you will later receive a confirmation email and HUMANKIND™ OpenDev will be added to your steam library automatically.

Please note that you have to be 18 or over to join OpenDev.

In what regions will HUMANKIND™ OpenDev be available?

OpenDev will be available worldwide, but will only be playable in English. HUMANKIND™ will however be localized in several other languages at its release.

I haven’t been selected for the first scenario, what can I do?

OpenDev only has a limited number of spots, that will increase for each scenario release. Not having access to the first scenario does not necessaritly mean that you will not get access to the next one. Keep an eye open on your inbox ;-)

Is OpenDev free?

OpenDev is completely free!

How long will the game stay in my Steam library ?

OpenDev is limited in time. Each scenario is accessible only for 4 days, and previously unlocked scenarios will remain playable during this period. Once these 4 days are over, the game will be removed from your Steam library.

***SPECIAL NOTE***
If you are having issues with form, and you are using Safari and/or Safari on mobile, please try another browser! Thank you for understanding.

you should have mentioned in this post that the requirement is PC/Windows and not in the middle of the survey. :-)

Ah… I figured the OpenDev wouldn't be available to Mac systems, but had to try an application anyway. I'm really looking forward to this game!

I assume that if you said you don't meet the requirements then you won't be contacted. It should probably state that and list them upfront. I'm just under the reqs, but I was honest.

The game looks amazing and will definitely be fun if balanced.
I hope I can contribute towards said balance.

Really excited for the potential of HumanKind, from before the birth of civilization too beyond the gravity well of the homeworld. Let us land and propagate on the moon

Thanks again Amplitude <3

You all are the studio I keep coming back to and playing repeatedly primarily because of the way you handle your community, integration and so on. I came here because of the email advertisement and while I primarily play just Endless Space 2 from you all, I've always been turned off of Civilization, the fact that you all are reaching out into their realm is what I'd love to see suceed the most. The evolution of ES:2 in your DLC and stories, bringing that kind of stuff to Humankind is what I want to do/see the most!

I love the concept of 4X games yet all I have played were lacking in different ways. As almost an addict board-gamer and designer I want my decisions each turn to be impactful. I hate skipping 5-8 turns until something happens. For me Endless Legend was closest to board-game experience and I loved it as well as the combat system, although could still be improved. The whole experience was great but still lacking a little bit. Endless Space 2 is fun for the first 100 turns - the developement phase (how I call it). Then it feels like just waiting for the win spamming end-turn until all is complete. I highly want to avoid such situations. Same goes for the Civ 6 - Developement feels non-impactful although it somewhat is.. Feels more like abuse your civ then create a strategy on the fly + the game is still needlessly prolonged.

Please let me help You share my feedback - I really love the concept of 4X but make it fun instead of a spreadsheet. :)
Cheers!

Thanks Sobert - thanks for reply. Yes the "click here if you can't access the form" link was there fine, and I filled that out with each browser. Obviously something came through to your end so that's good. If the manual element (on your end) of the sign up process is needed before the open padlock disappears (and option to refill the for also disappears, as it now has done) then I guess that's the issue some users are facing. Thanks again

@finchmyster Hi. We have added the "Click here if you can't access the form" so people in your situation can complete the form. Have you completed the form to the end of it?

On our System it seems that you did, but feel free to correct me if not. Please be aware that the confirmation email can take up to 24hr to arrive, as it's a manual process that is done by batches.

Little bit of a resumé if it helps me joining in :)

I've started playing 4x games with Civilisation 1 (a lot, playing Emperor Difficulty, reaching battleships BC!), played a bit of Civ 2, 3, 5 & Beyond Earth.
Then I discovered the Endless License with Endless Legend (499 hours) and then Endless Space 2 (627 hours played), playing on Endless difficulty & fast speed (sometimes normal).
Became unchallenging despite cranking all setting to the highest difficulty because AI gets irrelevant after you managed to overcome their early or midgame powerspikes, so I started playing multiplayer games.

I also play board games (Cyclades/Catan/7Wonders/...) and have a thorough understanding & game experience.
I didn't play much of Civilisation 5 but still watch some BabaYetu and used to watch FilthyRobots civilisation 5 games, where min maxing is key.
Looking forward to play HumanKind, wether on the beta or on release!!

Excited to see this game come up. I have played ALL the Civilization games that ever came out (many more than you think, even Facebook Civ), but I think it is time for another line of Civ games. Endless legends is the best non Sid Meier Civ ever made in my opinion, so I hope Humankind will not disapoint.
