Welcome to HUMANKIND™ OpenDev!

"Getting feedback as early as possible from our players has always been our way of creating the best games we can. In fact, we designed the GAMES2GETHER platform and program 10 years ago to fill that missing link between our dev team and our players.

Today, we're very excited to present OpenDev: a new way for players to get early access into our developing games so they can help us make sure we're on the right path.

We're really excited to try this out with HUMANKIND™ -- we're looking forward to your feedback on our most ambitious game yet!"
- Romain de Waubert

WHAT IS OPENDEV?

OpenDev is our new approach to community-driven game development. It allows you to join the dev team and help shape the game during its production.

Starting June 13th, register and get a chance to get access to 3 time-limited scenarios focusing on specific core features of the game (exploration, tactical battles, basic city management). Each scenario concludes with a game design survey that will help our dev team level-up the game!

REGISTER NOW!

Fill the form below and get a chance to be one of the first to play HUMANKIND™ . Once selected, you will receive a confirmation e-mail and the game will be automatically added to your Steam library. The number of players who get access will be increased as we release new scenarios, so stay tuned!

UPDATE August 13th, 2020: Today, we will send the last wave of OpenDev invitations for now. The sign-up form will remain open until Monday for future OpenDev-related opportunities.

Registrations are now closed. If you want to stay up to date on Humankind news, you can sign up for the newsletter at Humankind.game

Thank you to everybody who participated in the OpenDev program.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How can I join?

By signing up/logging in to Games2Gether, you will get access to a registering form. After answering a few questions about your gaming habits and PC specifications, you will be registered on the waiting list. If selected, you will later receive a confirmation email and HUMANKIND™ OpenDev will be added to your steam library automatically.

Please note that you have to be 18 or over to join OpenDev.

In what regions will HUMANKIND™ OpenDev be available?

OpenDev will be available worldwide, but will only be playable in English. HUMANKIND™ will however be localized in several other languages at its release.

I haven’t been selected for the first scenario, what can I do?

OpenDev only has a limited number of spots, that will increase for each scenario release. Not having access to the first scenario does not necessaritly mean that you will not get access to the next one. Keep an eye open on your inbox ;-)

Is OpenDev free?

OpenDev is completely free!

How long will the game stay in my Steam library ?

OpenDev is limited in time. Each scenario is accessible only for 4 days, and previously unlocked scenarios will remain playable during this period. Once these 4 days are over, the game will be removed from your Steam library.

***SPECIAL NOTE***
If you are having issues with form, and you are using Safari and/or Safari on mobile, please try another browser! Thank you for understanding.

I registered 2 weeks ago but I still do not receive the email that I have to do to receive it?

We will announce when the invitations have been sent, so until then there's no reason to worry whether or not you have been selected. :)

One of the most interesting things in 4x games is the defferent history logics of those game producers, so hope HUMANKIND can really show some amazing history philosophy.
Though the history logic cannot determine whether a game is fun, but it can surely determine the level of immersion. For example, Civ VI is a fun game, however weak in its inner history logic.
OK, form completed, now it's time to have a rest and wait for my email :)

Civ 5 is really good. but this game is so much more then that. it has history. something i really want in a good 4x game. the depth and detail so far is amazing and would be so happy to help the devs to make this game the best it can be.

I have a high interest with this game, as I could see it become similar or better then civilization. Civilization 3 and 4 was the best, but it went downhill from there with 5 with limited mod support (we can't pull the same style of content like we did with 4), and that went on even to this day (beyond earth and 6). As I play Caveman 2 Cosmos for civilization 4, That mod is litterly packed full of content that I enjoyed every single one, but it's limited by it's engine, and I wish to see a game that can become similar to civilization 6 but with HUGE mod set tool to allow people to make total conversion mods that I can enjoy.

I had a feeling that starting Civ V game leaned more towards sandbox-game instead of strategy-game.
You do more actions each turn, but they mostly about precise managing of minor things.
While I think that in the global strategy you should care more about major things and less about routine. You should be able to stack units instead of performing action per unit and should be able to manage queues instead of performing each work separately.
i.e. pre-planned actions should be a major thing in 4K while Civ V partly got rid of pre-planning.

From the one side, it made Civ series more approachable for everyone,
from the other, it's kind of lowered scheming/decision-making side of the game.

Well, it was still taken warmly judging by Civ V reviews.
Maybe, this is exactly what 4K fans want and my opinion in minority.
I'm not aware of the statistics.

Was this just a matter of time, or was this entirely just something wished. I didn't even realised this was Amplitude at first!

Honestly im excited, this and old world? Iron Harvest too. So many good games to get into...

And to think I've went back to Civ 4 and 5 recently. Hell. Its going to be good!

I still don't have the game in my library. Does it mean that I have been rejected for open dev?

As far as I know the Open Dev scenarios are not live yet. The devs have said there will be some sort of announcement when invitations are sent.
