Welcome to HUMANKIND™ OpenDev!

"Getting feedback as early as possible from our players has always been our way of creating the best games we can. In fact, we designed the GAMES2GETHER platform and program 10 years ago to fill that missing link between our dev team and our players.

Today, we're very excited to present OpenDev: a new way for players to get early access into our developing games so they can help us make sure we're on the right path.

We're really excited to try this out with HUMANKIND™ -- we're looking forward to your feedback on our most ambitious game yet!"
- Romain de Waubert

WHAT IS OPENDEV?

OpenDev is our new approach to community-driven game development. It allows you to join the dev team and help shape the game during its production.

Starting June 13th, register and get a chance to get access to 3 time-limited scenarios focusing on specific core features of the game (exploration, tactical battles, basic city management). Each scenario concludes with a game design survey that will help our dev team level-up the game!

REGISTER NOW!

Fill the form below and get a chance to be one of the first to play HUMANKIND™ . Once selected, you will receive a confirmation e-mail and the game will be automatically added to your Steam library. The number of players who get access will be increased as we release new scenarios, so stay tuned!

UPDATE August 13th, 2020: Today, we will send the last wave of OpenDev invitations for now. The sign-up form will remain open until Monday for future OpenDev-related opportunities.

Registrations are now closed. If you want to stay up to date on Humankind news, you can sign up for the newsletter at Humankind.game

Thank you to everybody who participated in the OpenDev program.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How can I join?

By signing up/logging in to Games2Gether, you will get access to a registering form. After answering a few questions about your gaming habits and PC specifications, you will be registered on the waiting list. If selected, you will later receive a confirmation email and HUMANKIND™ OpenDev will be added to your steam library automatically.

Please note that you have to be 18 or over to join OpenDev.

In what regions will HUMANKIND™ OpenDev be available?

OpenDev will be available worldwide, but will only be playable in English. HUMANKIND™ will however be localized in several other languages at its release.

I haven’t been selected for the first scenario, what can I do?

OpenDev only has a limited number of spots, that will increase for each scenario release. Not having access to the first scenario does not necessaritly mean that you will not get access to the next one. Keep an eye open on your inbox ;-)

Is OpenDev free?

OpenDev is completely free!

How long will the game stay in my Steam library ?

OpenDev is limited in time. Each scenario is accessible only for 4 days, and previously unlocked scenarios will remain playable during this period. Once these 4 days are over, the game will be removed from your Steam library.

***SPECIAL NOTE***
If you are having issues with form, and you are using Safari and/or Safari on mobile, please try another browser! Thank you for understanding.

Not too wary due to Amplitude's other games supporting 21:9, but I hope this one has it out of the gate.

Just saw the event on Steam and filled out the form! It's been a while since I focused on it, but I love Endless Legends and am waiting to circle back to the expansions I haven't gotten a chance to play with yet. My favorite mechanic is the influence resource that you use for diplomacy (and especially playing as the Drakken). I'm currently playing Planetfall, Total War Warhammer II, and Soren Johnson's Old World. I also enjoy strategy board games (Nations, Lorenzo Il Magnficio, Forbidden Stars - that often have a lot of resource management and different mechanics for the players to interact with one another) and hope that perspective is helpful. I'm excited for this opportunity. Huzzah!

The sun is setting on the Civ series. I feel that many of us have felt that unless they changed something radical about Civ, that Amplitude would eventually be there to lay it to rest. There is more soul in one character in DoTE, one faction of EL and ES2, than any of the Civ games as a whole, and I'm sure I'm not the only one here that can already feel that magic in what we've seen so far. Amplitude and Flybyno deserve for this game to succeed. Let's do them due dilligence. Fill out your form!

Dear Amplitude team,

I have just applied to your excellent OpenDev initiative.

More than a fan of your games, I admire your studio. You have nailed it so well, your games are among the most beautiful and pleasant I have played in my long player life (which started in the 70s with Pong!).

Long live Amplitude, I'll support you as long as I stay on this planet.

Really looking forward to a chance of being part of the community driven side of development at Amplitude. I don't just love WHAT you do, but also HOW you do it!

Hope I will be approved. I have a potato PC but maybe, if approved, that will help with optimization. Not everyone can get a NASA pc. :)

registered !

i'm kind of worried about the specs though, i have a very high-end computer from almost ten year ago. It runs most games pretty well including civ 6, even if i sometimes have to tone down the graphic parameters (who needs shadows and pretty water reflections anyway ?).

So i really hope you guys will have a thought for us people who didn't get a new machine in years because indie games allows us to ?
i have high hopes for Humankind, but am also sort of worried about a few tiny things i dislike in Endless legend, i'd be glad to help !

Just in case i don't get the chance to say it elsewhere : the cost of stuff -especially techs- that increases each time you buy it is something awful and ridiculous. Like got my very first coastal city very late into the game,ok. Which research should i do next ? nuclear fusion : 12 turns, basic seafaring : 10 turns.  what the hell ?
Seriously, it really kills some aspects of the game : i never play religion in civ 6 because the missionnaries and such are bound to become prohibitively expensive, and i don't walk in paths i know are dead-ends.

I really hope I get to playtest.  I've playtested several other, mostly MMORPG's, before.  I've also played almost every civilzation game ever made.  Really looking forward to this one.  I still play the Civ 4 mod Caveman to cosmos regularly and really have hopes that Humankind will reach that level of depth since the civilzation series has become more simplified.  Especially love the idea of it being hex based.

I'd like to try it out, but my English is not good. Will Chinese language be released at the same time?
