Hello everybody,

Yesterday we wrapped up the first ever OpenDev period for an Amplitude game.

We wanted to take a moment to thank all of you for your interest and participation in OpenDev. We’ve received a lot of great feedback through both the survey and the OpenDev forums, and we consider the OpenDev a great success.

While you will no longer be able to play the scenarios, and we will close the OpenDev forum later this week, we are still analyzing all the feedback we have received. We’ll share more insight into the feedback and lessons from OpenDev later.

We hope you all enjoyed your time with the OpenDev of Humankind, a stay tuned for future opportunities!

Thanks for the opportunity to play an early build of your game! Sorry I wasn't able to submit feedback on the final scenario, but I hope you were able to garner some useful insight from my other impressions! I'm very optimistic about the future of Humankind - you've definitely got a very solid foundation in place, it just needs some tweaks and additions here and there.

Also thank you! I couldn't give feedback to all scenarios due to going to holiday, but I left my mark on first one :) . I hope we will get more opportunities to play the game, because it's shaping up to be really awesome!

As a newcomer to your games, I would like to say my thanks for allowing me (along with many others) to partake in OpenDev. Despite one of the system requirements being an "NVidia GTX 960 or newer", I was amazed that the game was able to run on a seven year old Nvidia 870 with no crashes or game breaking bugs. From a stablity standpoint, it was a very good first impression. Hoping that the release version next year will be even be more polished!

Didn't realize I was selected for this and the e-mails all went to spam for some reason, and I can no longer redeem. I would really appreciate another chance to try the game in its current state, even if it's for just one day.

Not sure if anyone is reading this but is there any chance that I can complete the end of scenario surveys outside of the game. I misunderstood when I was supposed to do them and never got the chance to give my feedback on all the scenarios and would like to since I loved being given access to play around with this awesome game.

In the future it would be nice to have an "open comments" field in the in-game feedback survey, in addition to all the focus questions that are asked too!

GREAT WORK HUMANKIND! This is looking very promising. I am a huge CIV fan and I must say that it will be a good thing that they get some healthy competition with this one!

I would love a chance to participate in the next round of opendev. I am a devotee of other 4x games and I have time to play. The opportunity to develop my own culture with so many possible permutations is very attractive. It will be a kick to see how other players take advantage of the same opportunities and discuss it all within the community. Look forward to it.

I would have loved to play it longer than just a few hours. I couldn't even finish scenario 2 and 3 because I am bad at strategy, combined with not having Internet connection until yesterday evening. ;-;

So, I do hope for future opportunities!

Thanks so much for the oportunity to try the game and give feedback! Lately games are released with such big hype wrapped around them  without us actually knowing ANYTHING about it that we often times are dissapointed with the end resault. This felt like a demo to the game so now I know what the game will feel like, play like, and from that experience I have to say this will probably be the best game that I'll purchase(d) in the last 5 years to the next 2 at least I reckon.

Thank you again!

This was an awesome experience and opportunity. Thanks to everyone at Amplitude for making this OpenDev possible. I hope you received ideas that will help in refining and shaping the game.  There is tremendous potential here.

It seems that the battle system is one that is very controversial. I don't think this version had auto-battle possibility, but it might be something that would mitigate a lot of the grievances some people are having with the current system basically returning it to amore Civ-style better army wins worse army. Personally I like how the battle-system as is and what it be in the complete game. I might just want to streamline some battles where I'm overwhelming and even those where I find myself overwhelmed as such battles are more of a chore than anything else.

Also coming from a Civ5 and Civ6 background where it was possible to win in several different ways without actually focusing or engaging in war, I hope there will be such possibilities aswell.

If you consider it a success, then it seems our reaction didn't confuse you more than it made clear.. ;-)

It also means we all profited on (your) openness here, which is a great thing combined with the name Humankind.

Thank you very much for that too!

Yeah, many thanks to u, DevTeam.

I just hope that we'll have another one chance to take a part in OpenDev. Personally I didn't have enough time to play scenarios because of my work, unfortunately.

Anyway, you're awesome, guys!

Огромное спасибо за вашу открытость и работу!

Thank you for the invite! I really enjoyed seeing the mechanics at work and am SUPER excited to play the full release. I was amazed at how rapidly your team was able to impliment small improvements based on feedback. I also very much enjoyed chit chating and theory crafting will all the other fans on discord. It was very interesting to read all the constructive feedback of the other players. I hope my jokes were appreciated and not too annoying.

Thank you.

The idea of getting players to play from pre-alpha and listen to their feedback is a wise and useful idea.

In the OpenDev build you could hand a battle over to the AI, and it would play out at three times the animation speed. We want to implement an "instant battle resolution" option as well, but that's not an easy task given all the factors that play into battles.

As mentioned, we'll proably talk some more about what we learned from OpenDev later, once we've finalized the analysis. But the preliminary analysis shows a lot of useful feedback. :)
