Is it possible for a few individuals to be selected for beta testing? I wouldn't mind going for beta testing.

Same here, although I think they aren't even in alpha yet.

We haven't announced what path we will take when it comes to game playability before release, so I can't even partially confirm or deny that there will be beta and/or that they will be open.

At this stage, only our VIP have access to the build, and those are hand-picked players selected through a rigorous process. We have recently expanded the program so I don't believe we're looking for new members at this stage.

That's unfortunate, though I do wish for this game to be 100% polished- or as much time as it requires. By the by, who are the VIP members? Good luck! I have hopes for this game!

Considering that it is 2020 now, and with all(past) amplitude releases in between the months of may and octuber; i suppose we shall soon find out if there is an open alpha/beta in early access.

Regardless of the early access (or if the lack of early access) i hope the amplitude team best of luck in creating Humankind!

I also would love to test the game early! I am a huge Civilization Game Fan but Humankind looks very very interesting and I cant wait for play it! I never thought it could happen that CIV will have a strong opponent on this game genre. but what I saw until now is amazing.

I have played a lot of 4X. I played Endless Legend a lot (I'm the best multi player in the world with Grinder).

And so, I would have liked to be beta test, I have an experience to bring, but unfortunately my current gear is too old for this new game.

Unless you make it available to beta testers via GeForce Now in preview, which could allow you to test both at the same time perhaps?

To developers,  would it be possible some where near the release date,  to make lottery of early access for a few lucky fellows?

Absolutely available for constructive player testing, I hope this option becomes available before official launch.

Could even provide a 10 pages report. And as a planetologist, I may write something  about the (already pretty) terrains.

Do you mean Opendev?

Those are usually week long limited betas that only go up whenever Amplitude figures they need an open audience to give feedback on certain game mechanics, UI issues, and other things. The Stadia Opendev, which was open to everyone who could use their Gmail to sign in, ended last tuesday Oct 2020. We don't know if there will be a next one, or when the next one will happen.

Part of me 'hopes' there is another OpenDev but a larger part wants to wait in quiet anticipation for 6 months until launch and take the ENTIRE WEEK off just to play Humankind every waking moment for the week .... ? I can't be the only one ;) 

The OpenDev scenarios are limited and probably not something you would want to play for a week straight. Most of them are a single battle which I can't imagine you'd want to play more than 5 times. They are intended to provide focused feedback on specific aspects of the game, rather than demonstrate all game play together.
