Humankind's ARTWORK is spectacular

One of my favourite parts of the game so far has been the artwork. The illustrations for the cultures, events, sciences, units, buildings, etc has me IMMERSED in this world, imagining what it might've been like to live in those different areas and eras. Bartering and trading for food and goods, playing games by the market, etc etc.

Will we have access to some kind of artbook or will there be a pack of wallpapers we can download? I'd love to have high-quality versions of the artwork for my phone and laptop.

I feel the same, its leagues above any other strategy game and most games in general. I would LOVE if they released an artbook!

The artworks and graphics on the map are absolutely gorgeous, I also wish we'll have some more material to download and use.

I love the screenshots of cities by the sea, like the ones on the main site. I wish we would be able to take such screenshots in game, without having the UI displayed, though I know it's an impossible thing unfortunately.

Why would it be impossible? I know that most mmorpgs have options to toggle the UI off for screenshots at least. Is there something with 4x games that prevents this?

Sure, technically speaking it's feasable, but gameplay wise, that would mean revealing all the map, units, cities, outposts, and so on.

Unless there's a technical way to only show on map the current player's assets while taking a screenshot, that would be a way to cheat I guess ;)

Well, based on the tips in Stadia's build, SHIFT + F10 is the way to go :)

Will you be posting these screenshots somewhere so people can view them?

I love the graphics, I have a feeling when the game is available to download on steam there will be an option for 4K - I do have a question regarding rivers and streams.  They seem almost drawn with a bluish sharpie, the ocean is very vibrant and animated but for some reason the rivers and streams don't share the same quality graphics I don't understand

It's not a huge deal, I know a virtual world cannot be totally immersive and fully rendered as realistic in all areas ....  Maybe this will look better on a different resolution perhaps?

I am curious about the rivers & streams, I just watched another video on Humankind gameplay & once again the river/stream looked almost drawn in with a fuzzy sharpie marker.  Something needs to be done, I love the oceans just fine, just the rivers/streams.

Also, does the game render an entirely new landscape each new game?  How many different "maps" are there total?????????

Thank you

Hey there,

As a game designer I can answer to your last question: Yes, each new game will have its own entirely new landscape. The terrain is procedurally generated (= built by your computer based on a specific ruleset) every time you create a new game, which leads to an infinite amount of different "maps".

Speaking of art-work.

I totally agree 100%.

@Oriolie To whomever on the art-team decided to add Ashigarus wearing acctual Toppai Jingasas, firing Tanegashimas for The Japanese units (as we could see during opendev), please forward my admiration. It could have been so easy to just add some generic Samurai looking unit holding a generic Musket. To instead put such care into detail and do the background work and differenciate Samurai from Ashigaru and that they mostly wore Toppai Jingasas shows great care and love for details. I know t's only a cosmetic detail, but to me such details is part of showing the difference between a decent game and a great one with great care put in by the devs.

I like the look of the game but the map seems a little too busy. It's hard to really easily identify what's on a tile/hex.
