Hello.

I am a user who has pre-purchased to play HUMANKIND game in Korea.

I participated in Lucy OpenDev, and I received all 6 avatar rewards by watching AmplitudeStudios' special stream.

This time, Victor OpenDev,  I downloaded the game and login with g2g account.

However, the avatars which I got in Lucy OpenDev, are all locked.

Do I need a additional process to get the locked avatars back?

Really hate twitch drops campaigns like that.

What can I see checking twitch after office?

TEN campaigns.

How many rewards can I earn?

ONE, the default.

Because all these avatars guys stream only once and it's already gone. And it counts only LIVE stream just fyi.

And every time like that. Zero chances.

Srsly what the problem with that, why can't you just link all the avatars to the official stream after all?

Disappointing as hell I don't think I supported your another hopefully good game for "experience" like that.

Had the same issue, unlocked all personas during Lucy twitch drop events and they were not unlocked in Victor. To fix this (it worked for me), you have to resync/refresh your Games2Gether account and your Twitch account together there: https://account.games2gether.com/account

During the Lucy Open dev twitch drops event, you could unlock all avatars at the same time by watching the official Amplitude studio twitch channel. I know I did because I had missed some of the streamers and got all their missing avatars that way. They have a stream scheduled for next Thursday. Give it a try. Check their schedule on Twitch and you can set it to be notified when that stream will start.

It seems this channel is not even listed in the "Victor OpenDev" campaign description: "including /BurkeBlack, /Quill18, /lomadiah, /ZeratoR, and /GamerZakh".

Doubt it will work this time, but thank you I will try.

Hope devs can do something more friendly and useful than implementing ingame avatars that some backers can't even unlock.

Let me answer a few of the points raised in the last few days:

  • If you cannot use streamer avatars you earned during Lucy OpenDev, as Khoreim said, re-sync your Twitch link in your G2G account settings, and it should work
  • The Avatar Drops will still be available after release whenever the streamers with their own avatars stream Humankind.
  • While we did not have the avatar drops enabled on yesterday's stream, we will try to give you another opportunity to earn all of them.

Hope this opportunity will include ingame button like "I'd rather see these guys ingame not trying to find them in Twitch" that will unlock everything.

Because now it sounds at least weird: you make ingame stuff with backers' support and don't allow some backers play with all this stuff depending on time zone and other irl limitations. It's definitely not that I can expect from the good game and good devs' community managers.

Hate to say but these promotions make the least fun and massive negative reactions. Most gamers hate missing opportunities even trivial ones. I know that bases on your goodwill, still it's unworthy bets. I never say stop twitch drops immediately or give all avatars to everyone, but please don't do this again further.

I'm going to have to agree with those who dislike the Twitch drop promos.  It's just too much hassle for avatars that are merely self-promotion for these streamers.  There also does not seem to be a requirement that a streamer has to stream Humankind for a total of X hours on a specific number of individual days, and there is definitely not a requirement for the streamers to declare their Humankind streaming schedule ahead of time.  So the result is that streamers seem to often (but not always) deprioritize Humankind in favor of other games or paid promos, and Humankind players will have to stay on their toes if they want to catch an eligible stream so they can earn...an avatar of a streamer that they may have never even heard of.  I feel like both the Humankind fans and Amplitude/Sega are getting the worse side of this deal overall because the streamers seem like they can just do whatever they want and still get their channel promotion.

Yeah, strongly agree with this. I've been running through hoops trying to get these damned avatars, but so far they've been nothing but a source of frustration. And honestly, it's been such a massive waste of time, that I kind of just went "screw this, I now actively resent all these damned streamers. I didn't really care who they were up until now, but now I straight-up don't want them in my game in the first place".

I guess that's another thing that bothers me - the avatar "rewards" are really lame unless you are already a fan of the streamers.  But even at that, the key selling point of the avatar feature seems to be to put yourself in the game so why would someone play with an avatar that's not themselves?  Historical figure avatars would be more interesting - but would at the same time also be more frustrating because of the shortcomings of the Twitch promos that I mentioned in my previous post. So I don't particularly resent the streamers themselves, but I do agree that this promo is sort of self-defeating due to what seems to be a general sense of...I don't know...lack of interest?...previous commitments?...or something amongst the streamers.  In my opinion, if the streamers are going to be Amplitude's Humankind reps/promoters over the promo period (and possibly get compensated somehow), they should be streaming the game relentlessly while the promo is going on.

Yep, I don't really care about putting "myself" in the game, but I'm all for avatars that are either different from the usual norm (I loved Lucy's model), or actual historical figures, even if they weren't political leaders (I'm really liking the idea of playing as Victor Hugo, and I can't wait to play as Edgar Allan Poe). But freaking streamers? Especially streamers which I've never heard of before and don't give a crap about? How is that supposed to be appealing again?

And I also have to agree that, if you're going to have this big event where you're putting these streamers in the game, with this timed opportunity to "watch these people play Humankind for 3 freaking hours" (because when you have a limited amount of time to play the OpenDev, you really want to waste it watching other people playing it, right?)... then maybe make sure that those people actually play your game? Because most of them haven't even touched the damned thing since this promo has started. So... I feel sorry for the people who actually still care about getting any of these things. I hope none of them are holding off until they get them before they start a new playthrough, otherwise it looks like they won't get the game started by the time the 3rd of May comes around.

So basically

Yogscast (TheSpiffingBrit and Lewis)
Joueur_du_Grenier (JdG)
ZeratoR (Zerator)
Quill18 (Quill18)

will not play the game at all during the time of the drop? Why open a campaign without contacting the person/channels that are suppose to have the drop?

For example Yogscast, I asked and they told me they did not have Humankind on their plan at all during the time of the Campaign, which is bonkers...

This only sheds bad light on the game, if even the promoted players won't play the game at all...

So weird...

I recommend you to merge the drop in the single campaign, and give all avatars for any Twitch account with drops (either all at once, or by 30 min after each other, at least for those that will not stream it...

I'd recommend just unlock this beta content for backers and all Opendev participants.

Seriously people already play the game and I suppose exactly Amplitude devs would prefer see them playing, reporting bugs and providing feedback rather than watching twitch for no reason.

Yeah, that would be ideal.

But in case they want to promote the game on twitch, they can put all the avatars at once for 30 minutes or 1 hour watchtime (with any eligible streamer).
With that, you could put any streamer in the background while doing other stuff...
The way it is handled now is the worst option possible...

As i posted in the other threat, only 1 of those 4 is new (JdG), the other 3 are from the last twitch push.

I have no idea how they can put a NEW avatar into the game, promote it to be a twitch drop, but the person will not play humakind in the period at all ? Who comes up with these things ?

Only hope is that they will drop all 3 in one of the rare AS twitch streams, no idea why they don't stream more when they promote twitch drops in the first place.

If you're looking to unlock the streamer avatars, they'll be dropping on our stream tomorrow (Thursday the 29th of April, from 6pm to 8pm CEST)

Also, to clarify something:

The streamer avatars are meant for the streamers existing fans, and not for them to play as the streamer, but against the streamer. Only the streamers themselves will be able to select their streamer avatar for themselves. To other players, they are an AI opponent.

As usual, Cat to the rescue. Awesome !!!

I was hoping for exactly this, since it seems @GamerZakh only use Twitch for surbcribing Members. His videos seems locked for those who are not subscribed to him (if trying to click on his videos it says only available to subscribers of his twitch channel). I assume the same goes when he was streaming those videos live (not 100% sure though).

I have watched GamerZakh for many years on YouTube. I remember sessions where there was only like 10-20 of us watching him some years back, in the middle of the night here is Europe, when he was streaming live on YouTube. More people watched his videos afterwards and added to the view numbers, which is good. I remember long night sessions of him streaming "Obduction" gameplay back in 2016. A "Myst" or "The Dig" style of adventure/puzzle game (acctually made by the creators of myst). I even set the alarm in the middle of the nights to not miss those playthroughs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=np-ZdUgNtQw&list=PLYVqUDxY6COh27_Qj67YAPYAZk8zjpcvl&ab_channel=GamerZakh

For many years now I also alway try to catch his yearly videos of upcoming games in various categories. Especailly Strategy Games. Those videos are really well made.

However this is the first time I try watching him on Twitch. He is a really nice guy. He now also have 146.000 subscribers on YouTube. I am really happy for his success.

Sadly, I can NOT see that he has any more Humankind gameplay scheduled (not that I can see atm anyway) on Twitch before Victor OpenDev ends though.

---

Marbozir is also a really nice guy and a master at Turnbased strategy. I've been following him on YouTube for many years as well. I especially remember one playthrough of Civ 5 he did years ago on Deity, where he basically beat the AI with 1 turn margin, as he took their capital just as the AI was 1 turn aways from wiping him out. The AI was far ahead of him in the tech-tree, still he managed to win. That playtrough was tuly Epic. He has been streaming Humankind alot this week.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Marbozir also has another session of Humankind streaming scheduled on Twitch for Saturday May the 1st, 20:30 GMT+2 !!!

https://www.twitch.tv/marbozir/schedule

---

Joeuer_de_Grenier  seem to only be streaming GTA 5 atm. He has no sechedule at all. At least not specifying what he will stream in his schedule. He seems to stream at random and only afterwards does it say in  his shedule which game he streamed last. At least as far as I can see. Maybe I misunderstand something as his videos are in French.

It only says he will stream next time on Sunday 14:00 CEST in the headline of his schedule. However nothing in the schedule itself. Not even specifying which game he will be streaming on Sunday.

https://www.twitch.tv/joueur_du_grenier/schedule

---

In any case, as usual You'll save us Cat. We did manage to get all from Lucy OpenDev. The last few ones, just like this time, through Your official stream. *thumbs up* :)

My son and I will make sure to catch Your official stream tomorrow Cat, Thursday, April the 2nd, 18.00-20.00 GMT+2 and unlock The Victor OpenDev Avatars that we do not have yet.

Yes, the avatars will persist for the release version of the game.
