I won Humankind during the "What if" contest. .. but I was wondering if I would get (or not) the pre-order bonus. It's not exactly a pre-order.. but it's already in my steam library...

They were supposed to apply, so now we are investigating why the pre-order bonus was not granted and how we can fix the issue.

Speaking of which, I preordered the game on Humble Bundle and have two DLCs in my Steam account. I managed to activate the Deluxe content but it says that I do not own the Preoder bundle. Is there a way I can activate it or can you check whether preorders from third-party store count as well ?

Thanks for reaching out. I think this may point to a larger issue than just the WhatIf winners, but will help our investigation.

Are there any news regarding this topic?  It's definitely not a major bug that cause the game to be unplayable :), unless the problem is with Steam itself, and may be harder to fix than expected

Hopefully! I've got the "Default Content 1" DLC showing up as well, just in case it helps yourself or the devs.

I was just wondering the same thing.  FWIW, it looks like there is now a "Default Content 1" DLC installed which I don't remember seeing before.  I still don't see the preorder content in-game, but maybe that's a sign that they're making progress?

I had Default Content 1 always appear in my DLC section along with the Deluxe DLC since August 17 when I got the game but still cannot access the Pre-Order DLC.  I talked with someone on the Steam forums that has the Pre-Order DLC working and they said it shows up as a 3rd DLC on the list that is named Pre-Order so it is hard to say what exactly the Default Content 1 DLC really is but it does not seem to be a mislabeled or bugged Pre-Order DLC entry. 

@The-Cat-o-Nine-Tales, out of curiosity, have you been able to get a better idea of what's going on, and/or do you all have an ETA on when this will be resolved? I understand that you all have been busy working on updates to the main game and such, but it's been almost 5 weeks since the last update on this topic so I'm just wondering what the status is now.

We've determined that there were indeed some problems with the keys given out to the winners, but we had to first prepare a way to upgrade your game with this content. Now that we have that ready, we'll be reaching out through the same channels as before to provide you with a key that should grant you the bonus content.

Will this work for people who have preordered the game from third-party stores, like Humble Bundle ? My game still does not recognize the preorder bonus. I can provide a receipt and/or a steam activation date if that can serve to determine any eligibility.

What about those of us with the Deluxe Edition that clearly got it added to our Steam account before the cutoff date that are still missing the Pre-Order DLC?

Anyone else hoping that the jolly old guy in the red suit will stop by with a sack full of fixed Humankind keys for all of the good little users in this topic?  Maybe @The-Cat-o-Nine-Tales or @Martennson has the latest report from the North Pole?
