1. How does the instant combat resolution work in the background? Does the game play the combat very quickly in the background (like in Age of Wonders Planetfall)? If so can it happen that an auto-resolved combat lasts multiple turns assuming it would happen like this by handling it manually?
2. Do AI rivals also have combats against each other lasting multiple turns? Do they bring in reinforcements? Do they have sieges?
Does anyboday have any info related these questions to share (including devs and insider people)? Or is it just so trivial I shouldn't have asked it? :D
I can give an answer about question 2 and how do the AI do combat between themselves. I have seen both two AI cilizations fight a siege over at least 5 turns, as well as an AI attacking independent people. It does take a few turns and sometimes the war zone gets so large that it almost spills into my lands. Judging from that, I would say they kind of simulate it and throw in reinforcements as well.
