Hello! Is it normal for a land unit that i put on a boat will drown in deep ocean like it was only embarked? Thanks.

bonus question: why does the boat with units on it suddenly have 2 movement points instead of 4?

Units can’t “get on” boats…they can only embark.  The embarked unit counts as a ship and can join another ship to make a fleet, but the unit never gets on the other ship.  it becomes a ship.

That also explains the movent points.

You did not put a unit on a ship. You created a group containing 2 ships.

You grouped a ship with 4 movent points with an embarked unit that only has 2 movement points.

The group together only uses the movement points of the "slowest" unit. So the whole group only has 2 movement points.

Hope that helps. :)

So how do you get an army to another continent if it is more than 4 movement points away?  I've been trying to figure this out for hours.  Very frustrating when you have your continent under full control and can't get to another continent because the troops die before they can get there.  Any ideas?????

You need the Three-Masted Ship technology - this will upgrade automatically any and all boarding ships to Caravel with 3 movement and no ocean penalties. Granted, they are still slow but you should expect that for transport ships. :)

The Pentakonter has the "boarding vessel" property which applies "boarded" status to units. That seems to imply that units can "board" the Pentakonter. Which is important because I want to get my scout to a nearby set of islands they cannot reach with an ocean movement of 2.

So how does the Pentakonter apply "boarded" status to units?

It attacks them. "Boarding vessels" board Enemy ships in combat(immobilizing them)  You can never put a land unit on any ship other than the one it gets when it embarks. (the "Naval Transport" ships that only exist when a land unit embarks on to them, and disappear when it disembarks)

Thanks much. Boarding... as in boarding an enemy vessel instead of boarding friendly units for transport!

So is this article on "transport galley" incorrect? I see it replaces land units when they embark, but it also implies those land units can travel ocean tiles without becoming lost at sea.

It should say "Water" tiles instead of "Ocean".  Because it does say it gets destroyed after consecutive turns in deep water.
