Poor map readability

I think the main problem with this game is that I can't see many things in my own empire. Like, districts, borders. Look here:

Is this tile empty or there's a farm district? How do I suppose to understand it? In fact, it's empty, and the difference between an empty farm and a district farm is the number of small huts...

Now, see here. Which of these hexes are empty and which are built?

I can't understand it before I down the camera and look at small houses.

And look at here now:

Where does my city start and where does it end at all? It is difficult to understand...

You know, it's very bad graphical designs. I played many grand and 4X strategy games, and this is how its graphics shouldn't be made. Let's look at something random, like Imperator: Rome:

I clearly see: where's my border, where's my neighbor border, where are my cities, where are rural territories. The map is easily readable, I don't have pain I'm by eyes when I try to understand where something is. But Humankind, because of this kind of unreadable graphics, will not be a game for me. Even Civ6 doesn't have such a problem.

The readabily of both borders and farmers quarters to a lesser degree are indeed both quite limited and it is immersion breaking when you have to ponder what you are exactly looking at.

Lower right corner, there is a button that highlights all your districts, they are colour coded too.

I didn't see this button, it solves the problem partly.

The district highlighter can help you (especially with its colour code) if you have poor situational awareness. I can imagine that as more districts get placed someone can get overwhelmed if they are not used to so many details on the map.

If you have trouble distinguishing borders, just zoom out till you see only empires and put your cursor on a territory - it will start pulsating and show you its borders. This goes both for yours and your adversary's territories.

The game has a pretty good UI and that can be customized to an extent, take your time to evaluate what is there and see whether it works for you.

The only one I still have trouble figuring out are the ruined tiles. Some cities have an option to destroy them, but they're almost impossible to find (depending on terrain type and level of buildings currently there). The option only highlights green when you hover over the affected tile. Otherwise, you have to hunt each tile to find it.
