I have an army that was passing through an Independend People's territory when an enemy started a siege on them.  Now my army is "Locked in battle" and I can't do ANYTHING with it.  It has been stuck like 10 turns or so and the siege isn't progressing at all.  I'm missing something right? There has to be a way to get my army freed up here? I can't even attack and join the siege on one side or the other!??!  If I'm missing something this seems like a rather concerning oversight and needs some sort of resolution. Halp!

OK, now a SECOND army has been Locked by another siege.  I was on my way to attack this city and someone else got there first.  Now a SECOND of my 4 armies is locked and I cannot move it. The first army has been locked for over 10 turns.  Now this one just started.  This is brutal - I couldn't even use it to defend or attack or anything for MANY MANY TURNS.  There has to be a way out of this??? What is going on here?

Yeah I don't really understand the locked battle mechanic either. In Endless Legend, all you had to do to siege is to be beside the city and as long as you stayed connected to the walls you still sieged them. It also locked you when a battle happened, but it was over quickly and you could resume movement. What I think should be done is only lock the area when the battle is actually happening, not during a siege. This will allow most movement to continue.

25 turns and this army is STILL locked into this battle between two people I have no alliances with, whom I'm not at war with.  An Independent People's city and another civ.  During these 25 turns I declared war on that pink civ, captured two of their cities - STILL COULDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS SIEGE - and Forced Surrender.  Still can't get this army freed up.  What in the freaking world is going on here? TWENTY FIVE TURNS.

Had this happen to me.  One of my cities was sieged before I learned "Organized Warfare" and when the siege happened, my offensive army (the one leaving to attack) got locked and couldn't move because it happened to be inside the siege zone (even though it wasn't involved and couldn't be used as reinforcements).

Similar here, before "Organized Warfare" : a second army, which was parked away for healing, ended up on the edge of the battlefield thus being stuck while the attacking army had to wait for at least one ram.

If an army isn't involved in a battle let it be moved. Treat it the same way as an army in foreign territory - let it move out of the area.

Agree, armies who can't be involved in a battle should not get stuck, it can be really harsh in certain cases such as a siege between two other players lock down several of your armies who have nothing to do with the battle or is not at war with any of those players.

In my opinion armies should only be stopped if they are directly involved in the battle/siege.

Yeah I had this exact thing happen, my army was stuck forever.  I'm talking like 80 turns.  They were swordsmen when I was walking around with modern era units, stuck in a siege that an NPC had started against an independent city and just never resolved. Until the game completely bugged and I couldn't end turn at all no matter how much i reloaded, always got stuck at the same spot.  So had to abandon that game.

There's a lot of issue that make this game just on the cusp of unplayable.  Most of the games I've played I cant see through to the end because at one point or another it bugs out so bad you can't advance.  It's such a shame too, I enjoy the game (when ti works correctly) much more than civ.  although it could use some balancing, I'm more concerned about making the game stable.  Hope it gets fixed.  I'm pretty close to hanging it up for now and checking back in a few months.
