The pacing issue between "Cultural era" and "Tech era" just made me stop playing

Yep, I can tolerate some small shift between the "Cultural era" and the "Technological era", but becoming Japanese and being able to build Robotics Labs without having invented electricity yet is far to immersion breaking for me.

Such massive pacing problem was already present during Closed Beta, and I'm sad to see that nothing changed with the full release.

It's a shame because the game is a gem on paper.

I'll wait for the upcoming balance patches, hoping that Amplitude can find a way to fix this pacing issues (which is closely related to the currently huge snowballing effect imho)

The pacing does indeed seem way off. Biplanes in the industrial era, riflemen in contemporary, U-Boats vs Ironclads etc.

I would say that there really needs to be another era between Early Modern and Industrial AND another era between Industrial and Contemporary.

Seeing Napoleonic era units alongside planes and machine guns is driving me up a wall and has made me quit immediately.

Perhaps, but between the design decisions they've made with cultures and the atrocious array of eras and the technologies within I find myself with less than zero interest in the title at this point... which is a shame because I usually eat up anything Amplitude.

Yeah I know it's a bit much, but seeing this giant Gundam in front of the Robotics Lab (which is awesome!) and knowing that I was 2 eras behind in terms of actual technology made me Alt+F4.

I don't really know what could fix this issue for good, as people will always be able to min/max to gain as much Fame as possible and advance fast between Cultural eras.

As long as the Culture and Tech are independent I think it will be near mission impossible.

However, maybe a solution could be to add a new star which would be obtained by entering a new Tech era and which would be required to choose a new Cutlure.

I'm pretty sure it's just a bug - prerequisites are broken for a number of special districts, not only Japanese one (check Swedish for instance). Reported particularly this one.

Yes, it needs some serious tweaking. Hopefully we will get a patch soon! I'm really waiting for it and supporting the developers (well, mentally, I wish I could do in more tangible ways).

To be honest, I'm glad to just see them at all, considering that genre standard so far was pike&shotte->20th century infantrymen.

Pacing needs tweaking, for sure, but in games as such you kind of can't escape the spearman vs. tanks trope. You can fill troop tree with units, but it would just mean that there'd be more out-of-place scenarios when meeting up with your opponents on the battlefield.

This should not become normal but when you take a look to other game releases its like there's barely a game that is not complete buggy Humankind is like a 2077 patched for 2 years :D

It's definitely an issue. I consistently end the game with musketeers and halberdiers. I'm sure they put a lot of work into the contemporary era units and techs, but I never get to play with them during the 300 turns on normal speed.
