Though the beta and into launch, this has bugged the heck out of me.
Turn Start: <City> has a new population! 2 Turns Later: <City> has lost a population due to starvation! Next Turn: <City> has a new population!

There does not seem to be a food golden zone where my cities neither gain a pop nor lose a pop, which means I'm getting these alerts non-stop. Please add a 0 zone, where growth is paused but not lost or gained. Please. These alerts every turn are annoying.
Wasn't there a toggle in Endless Space 2 to stop population growth ? They should allow for that to be an option, instead of having to build units in that city.
