The last game I played, I tried changing my avatar to look something like my wife. Now I'd like to start a new game with an avatar that looks like me again. I'd prefer my avatar not to wear makeup but there doesn't seem to be an option to change that. Is there a way to remove the makeup or am I forced to play using female avatars from now on?

I wonder if it has to do with what culture/era/gender I last played. The avatar editor seems to show the avatar as seen on the latest state of the game. I can't remember if the earlier avatar had makeup either in the beginning of the game.

As I wasn't successful in removing the makeup, I picked one of the presets as my avatar and started a new game. Now that I edit my avatar, I seem to be able to recreate my earlier avatar - that has no makeup.

If you mean the face paint an avatar gets that is due tot he last era and culture that avatar was used in.

Launch a quick game in neolithic and see if the makeup remains

If it does thats your avatar but the you should be able to remvoe in the options as someone shown

I've noticed makeup changing along with the culture's outfit, so they seem tied to each other.
