Ten days after release, 125 hours in game, and it's safe to say I'm enjoying Humankind. Yes, I want things changed or fixed. But I also recognize the work that goes into creating a game like this. So I ask you -- what's your favorite thing about Humankind?

It's hard to pick just one, but as an artist myself, I love Humankind's visual presentation. It's just so lush. Every culture, every tech, every unit has an individual illustration. The landscape is animated with tiny people, animals, and vehicles. The biomes blend seamlessly into each other. Exploring is a joy just to see what incredible vista lies beyond the next ridge. Amplitude put so much love into making sure the look was just right.

Bonus favorite -- the music. It gets stuck in my head.

Ten days after launch and you already have 125 hours logged in ? That makes at least 12 hours per day on average - you lucky soul. :)

I very much like the music and how it changes for each culture - this is not like Civ 6 where you have a variation of the civilization's theme every other era. If you change your culture you get multiple new tracks for the new culture which is great.

I also enjoy the technology behind it - even on a Huge map the game loads a good minute faster than Civ 6. Granted, I use mods in Civ 6 but even then, you can appreciate the time and effort that went into building the technology that runs this game. Once the bugs have been ironed out and mods are enabled, this can become one of the main 4X games out there.

I would also say the music which is extraordinary. But the game itself is really very good and I can't wait for the biggest worries to be behind us. The culture system is addictive and make me interested in my civilization in each era, while in Civ6 i quickly forget who i am playing.

I like everything about the neolithic start.  In the Civ games I always felt like I needed to start my first city immediately or one move away or else I would be giving the AI a big advantage.  I love how the neolithic start encourages the player to explore and see more of the area.  I like having several levels of combat challenge immediately - from deer to mammoths.

Without question it's the set territory thing and being able to claim territory. I HATED that in all 6 civ games you needed to found useless cities just to keep the AI off land, I HATED the city spam and how close together cities were. It was impossible to have a country like Russia/Canada or even the middle of the USA with claimed but unpopulated/sparsely populated territory. You had to disable settlers to make any scenario outside Europe because you can't have spaced out cities, It blew my mind that Civ never fixed this. Less but bigger cities is they way to go.

However, as the above poster alludes to, the game needs A LOT of work, its half baked. Good concepts, not read. It will be a good game after a bunch of patches, an xpac, and mods.

Lots of things to like here, but above all is the music for me. To my knowledge, no other game comes even close with this level of detail. All the traditional instruments and great renditions of early music. When it comes to the Medieval / Early Modern era I frequently catch myself just sitting and listening instead of playing the game. I hope we get many more of those music making-of videos.

My favorite thing is the AI is competent in combat. It could use some work in some diplomacy and world map mechanics but in combat they understand terrain, when they are on the defense, and I almost cried when I realized they don't send troops out of cities in a battle just to get vaporized but rather actually defend their position. Shouldn't be a big deal to highlight but I'm sure several people here can understand why it actually is lol.

I love starting every game without knowing which cultures i'm going to choose.

I also try to found at least 1 city with each culture so at the end of the game I can take a "tour" of my empire an see the legacy of all past civilizations.

Developing your cities and war mechanics are very interesting, and I'm sure they will get even better with time.

Game design is just amazing, music as well.

I've already played 8 different games with humankind, rarely had so much fun with a videogame and things can only improve from here on.
