Agreed.

At this point, I just don't understand why they even added the pollution system. It's not even half-baked, and they added it, what was it, like *one* week before release.

If it was so important, it should have been saved and properly tested, and then added as a free update alongside the first DLC release.

Look at civ? World Congress? Remove pollution? No, please, triple no. There‘s lots of reasons to be disappointed with how pollution works currently, but that doesn‘t mean it needs to go, nor that there needs to be a tradeoff for other (much less necessary and interesting) systems. And to the post above: there‘s no need to hyperbole and tell outright lies to make a point that has been made dozens of times yet and has been acknowledged as something that will be examined in the future by the devs in Public (who also said it won’t be a quick and easy fix). Pollution was of course not added a week before release.

Really the "Quick Fix" for pollution is to

increase the  low Thresholds by ~3x and drop the penalties by -50% [so 180k total but only 1/2 the penalty, or 150 per turn but only 1/2 the penalty]

increase the High Thresholds by ~5x [so 400 or 500 k total, or 625 per turn]

For a longer fix

Pollution serves the purpose to provide a trade-off for all those powerful late game infrastructure buildings and the number of Makers districts. The AI having built more districts than you usually makes a lot more pollution. There is also no quick fix about it - even if you tweak the thresholds and penalties, on larger maps with more AI opponents they can still break the new threshold.

The AI needs to have its logic improved and take into account pollution generation in the late game. Also any change to the whole system has to take into account how to teach the AI to play around or with it - as you said, the biggest polluter is usually the AI.

and you cant interact with AI about Pollution, thats the worst part. At least give us diplomacy or war options.
