How do you get the "real" humankind level ai?

When I set the ai to humankind, the ai players quickly fall behind in fame, economy and military, at best I have seen them build maybe a few ironclads, but in general even in turn 200 they are stuck like on early modern. Other players claim they see the ai build like 20 units in classical, get multirole fighters and other contemporary units and this long before turn 200. Why is the ai for me playing so much worse than it is for other people, like what settings do you use to get the "real" humankind ai?

I want to know the answer too. I picked all expert AIs but result is still the same, somehow the AI doesn't know the end goal of the game is to collect fame.. posted my latest experience here but no one responded:

That said they just released a massive beta patch let's see if that improves the AIs fame performance

I play most of my games on Blitz and I find the Humankind AI quite tough as the bonus they get don't scale with time, like an AI with +20% industry gets a pretty violent headstart when playing 75 turns .

Every game, half the cultures are already locked on 1st turn (I had one where I was left with 2 choices on 1st turn).

I lost games where the first 3 AI made 12k+ fame.

I lost games to scientists and polluters, one even left earth.

It seems like a lot depends on chance and the details of your map. I'm playing a game on civ difficulty where the #1 AI outpaces me in fame by 2:1 and is two eras ahead. They have 90% of the "new world" settled. Based on locations it looks like they had few opposing civs and just expanded x1000,

Some things you can do to help the AI :
- Pick a bigger map but assign fewer AI opponents. The more space the AI has to expand without conflict, the more powerful it will become. Same as you.

- Set a higher percentage of land to water ratio. The less water, the more land to expand and the easier it is to reach the new world.
- Pick AI Personas with complementing traits. I know it is easier said than done, yet just because an AI is marked as Expert does not mean they are any good. I would focus on Personas with merchant, influence, stability and military traits.

- Speaking of AI Personas, have at least two that are overtly militaristic. Having an aggressive neighbor that does not want to sign even a non-aggression pact with you makes the AI build more garrisons. As the AI has Stability issues in the later Eras, those garrisons will help it stay afloat in more ways than one.
- Install the new beta patch from Steam. They have fixed quite a few AI logic issues, including the one how they build Commons quarters. That should help them keep their steam well into the Contemporary Era.

my experience.

ai is "better" on shorter games (75 turns) than on longer games (600 turns).

ai is likely better on smaller pangaeas, than on larger maps with lots of new-world territory (new world is THE way to out-expand most AI scenarios)

ai is worse, when it has more units, as more units give more chances to do somethung dumb wioth them.

this gives you less turns to catch up to some initial buffs and it gives less turns for ai to mess up.

First impression from the beta is that AIs are now farming Fame across the board, not rushing to the next era anymore.

I find that what works best is getting personas from gamestogether that have the OP traits (like +10 industry on makers quarter and +20% science on city, for example) and then messing up your neolithic purposefully so the AI gets a massive headstart. That's the only way I can guarantee the AI will snowball and will be a challenge (although it's still very likely that you will snowball past them in industrial or late early modern), but at least they will make it to contemporary. Sometimes the AI will snowball anyway if they are lucky and one player manages to vassalise like 5 of the other AIs, but it is very hit or miss.

Let's play Blitz against 9 Humankind AI on the new beta patch.

I can take a culture on 1st turn let's see what I'll chose:

I thought they didn't find curiosities instantly anymore and waited a little longer in an era before chosing culture. Was I lied to?
