I have been trying different settings for game speed and found 450 turns to feel like the right amount. But, I did enjoy the "craziness" of a Blitz speed play-through.

What are you thoughts?

Perhaps I'm a bit of a square, but I like a nice, slow-paced Normal game, even on MP. In my experience, 4x games seemed to be tuned to play on their default speed settings. 

I wait eagerly for marathon-like gamespeed (1200+ turns), could be a mod.

Broken stuff has to be fixed first. Win in 55/300 turns is not healthy.

blitz, cause game is decided by your starting position RNG anyway, why prolong the pain? :-D

I still find it difficult to reach the last two eras even on normal.  Perhaps as I learn how to play better things will change. 

I prefer slow, generally.

I had that same problem in my first couple of games. The trick is resource management and population growth. There are a myriad of strategies but I am currently hitting final Era on slow pace by turn 250-300. Leaving me 150 turns to conquer the map trade is also really important.

Normal speed , I'm finishing faster and faster science victory as I get used to the game (HK difficulty), I just broke below 150 turns last night so not sure I'd want to increase the number of turn :)

I always play as slow of a game speed as possible in any 4x
