  • Nerf industry and science affinities (eg a % loss of converted resources) so that the end game balance and pacing doesn't entirely depend on those two features
  • Fix forced surrender cancel button grayed out issue, which makes an otherwise extremely satisfying war system gamey and unrealistic

I’ll be back on the game when these get resolved.

I agree on the first point. There are people looking into modding that already.

The war support probably won't be fixed. It's as intended. It's meant to represent you populations unwillingness to continue the war - that includes the military soldiers. Now. If you want them to look into adding a feature where perhaps you can buy out popular support to continue the war with stability or influence (or a bit of both) that might be something they could look into adding to the game.

I have no time to try the new patch yet, but very disappointed to know the second bug had not been fixed yet.

In my opinion, if they would be to 'fix' the forced surrender in a way that allows you to finish off an empire that is already on the ropes instead of making it so that you wage many small wars over chunks of land, then it has to come as a gamble. The per turn tick down of your own war support has to become higher, so you're allowed to fight beyond when enemy gave up, but there's possibility you'll be allowed to take even less than if you'd force your terms right away.

Currently, the only way I'm seeing myself be okay with war support force surrender being deleted as per feedback, would only be if the maximum city cap a player can have through technologies gets lowered--maybe even also have war cities count towards city cap during wars. All these people wanting to go from 0-100 in eliminating every player within a single war can have their wish, but they need to keep their influence up to do it, or constantly have military squads patrolling their territory in order to fight back rebellions.

If those same people start complaining about how they are not getting enough warscore to do it without having to personally raze cities, I'm against giving them anything more. As they chose to do elimination wars that last forever, so they better start scorching the Earth by ransacking city centers they can't keep.
