In my current game, I was at 100% proximity with every single AI (which made things a bit dull, honestly)...

Then I changed some civics and suddenly, my Kinship at 100% has dropped to 50% or so.

Is there any way to determine what civics each AI has so I might know how we're aligned?

Unfortunately there is no way to see the civics of the AI. Regarding the proximity of the AI it is going to depend on the map setting you choose at the beginning of the game, if you prefer to have some space I will recommend you to increase the map size or reduce the number of players.

Not looking to reduce physical proximity to the AI, just want to understand how to maybe get along better with the AI or at least, to better understand how my civic choices impact our ideological proximity.

This would be very useful as it affects war support.

I agree that seeing the ideological axis of the AIs is a missing feature.
