So I love the game, I've got many games completed now, something like 8-10. I mostly play Civilization difficulty.  But then this event happened.  It is just terrible.  It encourages the worst, least enjoyable games.  You have to play on the lowest difficulties to achieve it which makes everything unfun and a complete chore.  I mean, I know completeist achievement crap is always a slog but this is just dumb.  I hate having to play a terrible, complete stomp with zero challenge just to get the achievements.  

Bad events are bad, please consider several alternatives to complete the achievement.  You can either do something completist and dumb OR you can do some other specific accomplishment at Empire / Civ / Humankind level. 

Anyone got saves right before your objectives that you can share so I don't have to slog through this?

If you use the Blitz game speed, it isn't absolutely terrible.

I won't say fun, but since a Blitz game is meant to end in 75 turns, you can plow through it quite fast.

Then all you need to do is what Kwami said.

- have lots of different settlements that add up to 300 population.

- combine them all together with influence or gold (land rights civic).

- hit 300 population, get the achievement, quit.

you just gotta go megalopolist really. Youll hit 300 by the end of the game easy if you focus food civs. Steal pop from your neighbors n such once you've got bonded alliances, etc.

on the side of the event in general, i actually think its realy interesting. 4x games dont ususally try things like this. I think if, once the event is over, if it could be re-tooled into a set of achievments to unlock the ai persona in the base game, it'd be really cool. As more and more events happen, more and more "replaability" is added long term with new eccentric ai opponents enhancing the player's sense of progression.
