So, these are the food Statistics from a game huge, max difficulty game, normal speed game with duplicate cultures allowed.

In the statistics, it’s quite clear why the AI does so much better when they pick Harrapans. In this game there was 3 Harrapans (2 ai one player) and all of them have 3x the food other nations have on average by turn 66.

How could they be balanced to be similar in power to the other cultures?

Could you tell me as well like which colour is using which culture?
But it make sense to me, at first sight, that if they are using agricultural cultures get more food, compared to others.

Blue: Player harrapans

Jelow: AI harrapans

Pink: AI harrapans

Red: Player Egypt

Rest: AI on other cultures

Im aware that agrarian cultures get more food, but that they consistantly get 3x seems to very strong

Just curiosity, how it was when moving to next era? The others AI (that chosen agrarian) reached the same level or that breach was like that the rest of the game?

It was a MP game was ended at that point, since the player that was over 2x the population than the egypt player. And as a result of that higher population also had 3x science and 2x production compared to egypt.

But in simmular games that go all the way, we can see that the other civ's never catch up unless controled by a human (and those have a hard time to and won't catch human harrapans unless war is involved normaly)

Il post more Screenshots later, but generaly, players that get harrapans have a signifficantly higher population and winrate compared to players that don't

At the early era the +1 on the tile can be between +33% and +100% of the original tile production since it is not limited to districts but is an exploitation bonus. And the 33% are usually those special terrain modifiers like berries otherwise at least 50%. The EQ is 3 times worth a farmer district and gets +2 for each adjacent farmer district (which is 2x times more effect than just a farmer district). If the players focuses on that, it really is difficult to reach them until era 3, if the Harrapans does not take another food culture.

Since each pop does at least 6 production, especially in era 1 + 2 having a lot of pops is really strong. Consider the reasearcher. Having 1 researcher or not is reducing early tech from 5-7 turns, to 2-3 turns since you basically have no way other than researcher to get reliable science. Which makes the strong growth rate of harrapans a really strong culture at the beginning.

So to answer the question of if the other Cultures ever catch up, no they don't unless they actively cripple harrapans

I have some more screenshots of my last multiplayer games, all are humankind difficulty with varying amount of players on the newest patch with differentiating map setings

If u ask why some games don't go all the way, it's because players leave or surrender once someone has 2x their population and is ahead in every statistic
