It is going to depen on the reward. As a base you will require to connect tha game to steam/epic and connect g2g in-game
For example the rewards for LNY and Amplified will be distributed for the patch in February.
The reward of Great Zimbabwe wonder you can click on claim it (once linked to steam/epic/xbox).

I will recommend here connect G2G-Steam and ingame-G2G. Once you connect it you don´t need to connect it again every time you start the game (unless you move to another computer)
