I get the concept, but there are some things that I'd want to clarify for myself. Is it normal that another religion've spread through all of my territories but I still get bonuses from my own tenets? If it is, then is there any penalty, after you've picked tenet 4, for keeping your territories under another religion's influence? Any help or advice is appreciated.

We need some specific pictures to judge your problem. First of all, your empire benefits from the state religion you choose, which will not change as long as there are enough remaining believers.

Can you check if your tenets are benefitting all your territories? Or only the territories that are you own state religion?

I have always thought it was the latter. So when your territories flip, they get the benefit of the foreign religion. And if you like that better, you can change your state religion.

I'd be happy to be corrected, since I haven't paid attention (given that my religion is usually the one converting everyone else).

One thing I can confirm is that buildings which product faith produce the state religion faith (both EQs and Great Wonders), except for non-Great Wonder holy sites which always produce the original faith when they were built. Territories produce faith based on state religion if you have the civic.

My tenets were indeed influencing all of my territories, even those under foreign religion. That is what made me confused in the first place. For now I think the only drawback of losing the faith race is inability to evolve your tenets, But it doesn't matter if you've already grabbed them all.

As I understand it from my game play, you will continue to benefit from the tenets you choose until you change your state religion.

In your example, another empires religion is generating more faith and influence therefore converting your land to their religion. Once it has the majority of the population, that territory is effectively under their religion. The game actually provides a really good breakdown on the tooltips of how many of your followers are under your religion as opposed to another.
