[Vitruvian Update] Notification Changes

I hate to say it but new notification setting change does not help solve the problem it was meant to do. Yes, now you can toggle on/off certain notifications but you have to do it by groups of messages. There are important kind of messages and ones that are not so much relevant within every group and you have to toggle them all or none. You can disable pop-ups for all diplomatic messages but not for specific types. For instance, I may not want to see 'New Grievance Available' pop-ups, however, war declaration between AI empires or news about downgrading treaties are important ones that I still would like to see. 'You successfully ransacked' messages are rarely important to be reminded, whereas, I want to be alarmed immediately when I'm the one being ransacked. Unfortunately, the new notification system is still like accept it all or nothing. I immediately ended up disabling all of them and will keep manually checking important one as I used to do before changes.

Very good points... it's a step in the right direction but it'd be nice to have more granular control.

For instance, I would like to know when my cities are losing population (where I can do something about it, potentially), as opposed to an outpost where I am less likely to have options.

Quite right. That's the term I was looking for; more granular control. I personally don't care much about 'Your City lost population' messages as long as I can receive 'Your City is starving' message in prior turns. If, however, population loss is due to low stability and results in stray rebels wandering in my territories, that's another message I'd like to see highlighted, etc.


Preferences of each player are naturally quite varying. On/Off toggles for every type of messages may clutter settings menu but it would help a lot to improve player experience.
