Okay, my African Cultures DLC was present under content and listed as a download in Steam, but I was never able to figure out how to activate or use. I can suffer that loss. Now I don't even see the Vitruvian Update listed in content or downloads. THIS SUCKS !!!!!! What do I need to do to get both of these up and running. I need, I want, I must have my updates. 

The update should install and activate automatically (as long as you don’t stop steam from doing the updates). You can see the version number in the lower left of the main menu and check whether it is that or vitruvius or an older one. For the DLC, you have to activate it in the game as well in the menu under content(?).

My settings in Steam: HumanKind > properties > updates are: always keep me updated & allow background downloads. Under betas my last update is the one from October.  In game under content: deluxe, pre-purchase, Cultures of Africa, Great Zimbabwe. So I'm not sure why it's not activated in game.

On Betas you have to have non. Otherwise you are playing the game version from a beta branch we make on October (Fabius Maximus one)

I think that's it. I changed that and immediately a 6.25 GB update initiated. I'll report back here, but I will thank you now in advance.

To prevent something like this maybe the devs should remove betas when they are no longer needed or put out a statement in the latest patch to remind people to opt out of a beta.
