Personally, I would prefer not to know about patches so far in advance.

I was fairly excited to boot up a game on a Huge Map on Endless, what with the Vitruvian Update here and all, when steam news pops up and let's me know that before the game I'm about to play completes, there will all-ready be another major patch. Personally, I think ignorance would have been bliss here. Not really excited to play anymore, not until Bolivar drops.

I really really hope that after Bolivar drops, Amplitude does not announce a new patch ONE WEEK LATER.

On the contrary, i would like to know even more about what devs are programming for the future even if It is not happening right now.

Has the OP been smoking the good stuff I wonder.

I want to know everything about upcoming patches...right down to who chose fonts to use for them...

What you are experiencing is known to me as the paradox paradox. You feel like playing a specific game, but once you are about to start it, you read what fancy features will be introduced in the next patch and then decide not to start up that game because your time will be better spent with the future, presumably better, version. Once that version is out, you see that it has some annoying bugs, so you wait another week or two for the hotfix that irons out most of the hindrances. Once that is done, the next patch is announced and the circle starts again.

Personally, I stopped being put off by the announcement of patches and their content (although sometimes I still wait with a new game for a DLC if it is around the corner). It's good to keep in mind that, for Amplitude, some weeks pass between a patch announcement and actual release. In the current case, there's at least one more dev diary next week (this week's was called part1, so there should be a part2 at some point,) and that release dates of the patches are always announced before as well on top of that. So, it's probably 2+ weeks until Bolivar hits your ssd, which - for me - is enough time to play a game if I fancy playing it.

And to be honest, I think it's good if companies communicate some things they pursue on a larger scale as well. Hence, I hope that soon after Bolivar is released, we'll see a blog post with a rough roadmap for the rest of the year (the current one ends in summer), and not the announcement of the next patch that will then probably drop after the summer break.

Bruh, by the time you finish that game the patch will probably still be a week away. How long does it take you to finish a game? I already completed 4 since vitruvian dropped.

usually takes me 2-6 weeks to complete a game on Endless, depending on how much free time I have on hand

Oh damn, that sucks dude. Well hopefully you get enough time to finish in 2 weeks. But then again, at least you know your game is gonna be obsolete before finishing it instead of just one day opening it up and it being outdated. Though I don't think it breaks the game. You should be able to finish it either way and maybe if it takes you six weeks you be a couple weeks away again from another update.

Holy crap... I was going to say what the guy you replied to said. I am in my 40s, I support myself, no I do not live in a basement or with my parents, I play on endless/huge and a game does not take 6 weeks. If you have so little free time that a game takes that long you may want to re examine your situation. Good lord. I'd be hanging from a noose if I had that little time to myself, I can't even fathom it. Anyway, I think game companies should cater to gamers, gamers make free time to play games. The patch was announced with weeks to go as others have said, so normal people have more than enough time. If anything, get in a game so you can freshly tell the difference the patch makes. I wish they would give more updates.

For me instead who has been waiting for this game release since the first announcement trailer and than being a disappointed with it's features and unbalance in game once it was released, I am more than happy to see the devs showing their roadmap and informing us that they are indeed improving things and have a clear and firm path to follow. I understand your point of view but I have lost the fun of playing the game for a while now and this updates that are being announced are definitely a step in the right direction in order to bring the game to the state it deserves to be.

Thanks for letting me know doctokain. These steam announcements make the patches seem like they're much sooner on the horizon, but if it won't drop till Mid June, I do think that'll allow me to enjoy a playthrough before then.
