All I wanted is a peaceful reign!

I don't deny I enjoy wartime fighting disturbingly way too much but this time all I wanted was a peaceful rule among our neighbours aiming to achieve technological prowess; "Nooo!" they said, "We feel Hate Filled, Aggressive and Jealous of you. Give me Kawah Ijen, give me Kitalpha, give me my independent people, surrender to my ally..."

"Come and get it... if you can!" I replied. "Tell you Emperor, even his dreams cannot grasp where our puissance can reach!"

Joking aside for the first time in my campaigns, AI formed alliances against me and declared war one by one to protect their allies. Only AI I didn't have war against was Black Maya; they were just chilling in their desert in the middle of a global chaos. I'm not sure why it turned out this way. What surprised and impressed me this time regarding AI's capabilities is how they all decided to protect their allies considering it was the right time to react and followed each other in declaring war or making me declare by refusing my demands. I'm really impressed!

I always enjoy aggression from rival empires early on in campaigns. Ancient/Classical/Medieval warfare is my favourite. Besides, in this campaign I might not be as innocent as I would think of myself; I never yielded to their demands and asked them to sweeten the deals for me to accept those non-aggression pacts they have been requesting since the beginning of the game. It's still not my fault, though; they kept stealing wonders I desperately needed, three times in a row and exactly in the same turn I just saved enough influence to claim those. So deep down in my heart I was hoping that they would save me from the burden of declaring war with a 'resolute but heavy heart'. What can I say? I just needed those wonders. :)))

It was definitely a tour de force to deal with all of them at once but what a pleasure it was (and still is since wars are ongoing at the moment). The Himalayan passages in Giant Earth Map where Pink Aksumites established city of Sidon was especially a nightmare to march through. I could barely travel through this region tile by tile while waging mountain warfare against two empires and could make it at the gates of the capital of now Pink English just in time, in the exact turn that they had to surrender. Lighthouse of Alexandria that I desperately needed to set sails for New World was in Byblos whose boundaries were not even visible enough to let me plan my attack until last turn and I had only one turn to conquer the city. I think I now know how Anibal (Hannibal) might have felt when he finally managed to march his army with 37 war elephants through Pyrenees and Alps.

Humankind is such a joy to play! It's been 850hrs (including Closed Beta) and counting and I can still think of numerous different paths to follow for next campaigns.

Just wondering, do you play with the option "Pace mode"? With this option, AI tend not to declare that many wars against you.
But on the other side I would understand if the AI decided to join against your "peaceful region with a lot of money and power" you can be a potential thread (they don´t know your real intentions)

Hi Daarkarrow,

Do you mean Peaceful AI setting in game options? You're right I don't use this setting toggled on. I always enjoy aggression from my rivals early on in my campaigns. Ancient/Classical/Medieval warfare is my favourite. Besides, in this campaign I might not be as innocent as I would think of myself; I never yielded to their demands and asked them to sweeten the deals for me to accept those non-aggression pacts they all have been requesting since the beginning of the game. I've tired the peace mode. It seems to prevent AI from declaring war on you, (You can still decare it on them "At least to the date of this post.") However the Ai will still recruit military units, even the pacifists, so if you're trying to unlock the pacifist setting for your avatar by using this setting, it won't guarantee you a victory... although it could help depending on the opponents you chose to play with. I know because I've attempted this many times to try  and unlock the pacifist setting using this game play option. Not sure if this helps you or not, but I thought it might be useful for info, for anyone who like me continually tires and (to date) always fails to unlock the pacifist avatar setting.

But I think you should edit your first post of possibly to let others know your telling a story. Cause I think it is getting mixed up with you asking for a peaceful option lol

Or you could think about opening those threads in Your Humankind Stories subforum, it's a bit dead right now, but this is another thread of yours I've seen in which you tell it with pictures, maybe it would encourage other people to start sharing there too.

Good idea! It has completely slipped out of my mind. I should add these posts there.

Thank you! I'll edit the original post as you suggest and also post it in Your Humankind Stories sub-forum.
