So on steam someone mad ea topic on trade bringing over too much influence and faith into their city. They wanted to stop this by cancelling the trade agreement to the nation that was pushing the influence into them. When they cancelled their trade stopped but the nation they were trading with still had resources that they bought, which kept the influence coming in. The poster was upset that they are unable to completely cancel trades without war, destroying trade routes, or getting specific civics. So is cancelling a trade agreement supposed to cancel trade on both sides or is it a bug/oversight? If it is working as intended could there be a way to add in a cancel trade button?
One of my main trading partners became isolationist, which grayed out the trade agreements on the diplomacy screen. But it looked like the trades that were already in place were still on going. Based on the luxury icons on the top right, it looks like I still recieve them. I'm not sure if they were cancelled or not? Are they supposed to be cancelled? And what happens to influence/religious spread when going isolationist?

Can somebody shine some light on this mechanic?
As for isolationism, i had a go at this in one game. I had a couple of vassals take it and they were isolated from me and their territories immediately lost all of my influence on them. So as far as vassals go, I know isolationism will cancel out your influence. I don't remember if it worked on any trade I had on going though. I was more shocked to learn that isolation sims blocks influence to and from vassals
Ending trade agreement only disallows new purchases (that's even what the game says, default treaty is called "Forbid New Trade"), existing trade routes will remain until ransacked or war is declared. It's a bit weird, but required for the way the trading works - imagine you poured all that money into someone's resources, built an economy dependent on those trade routes and they all of sudden decided they're jealous and started cancelling out deals.
It's an interesting thing with the vassals and isolationism, so you can prepare to fight for your freedom (remember that with Bolivar spheres of influence will be important for warfare), but if they're warmongering bully with no allies you'll be starved for resources and will need to prepare a stockpile of money, hoping to quickly make allies once broken free.
