Star requirement affinity question

I've noticed a handful of times that the requirement for the third Science star sometimes exceeds the available number of technologies in that era when playing as a Science affinity. Specifically, as the Babylonians, I researched every ancient era tech but still had 3-4 techs left to earn the third star. (I also once researched the entire tech tree as Sweden and couldn't get the 3rd contemporary era science star, but this was a long time and several updates ago.)

Is this normal? It seems strange to me that unlocking classical era technologies would be necessary for earning an ancient era science star.

It shouldn´t happens, but the star requirement depends on the speed of the game. Therefore it would be helpful if you could tell us the speed of the game

Ye sthsg is normal for all science cultures. This is because science cultures can research one era ahead. So while you researched all era 1 researches your re also able to research era 2.

I was playing on fast speed, so that might explain it!

I definitely get that, being you get greater rewards and have an easier time researching technologies, it *should* be a little harder to earn your powered-up affinity stars. I simply thought it was a little strange that I was required to research classical era technologies to earn an ancient era science star.
