Might need a larger sample size but ive played huge map trying to get "there can only be one" a dozen or so times and there is never any resources by me and there will multiple territories without even 1 resource. The ones that do show up are all clumped and the ai just rushes them. Used mostly default settings besides luxury spread, Even turning spread off its still bad. Anyone else noticing this? 

Try abundant resources.

Looks like number of resource deposits doesn't scale with map size. While on a small map there are 2-3 strategic resources on each territory, on a huge pangea with 70% land it become extremely sparse. It's just impossible to have horses, copper and iron on your territory, you have to trade for some. I think it should be rebalance so that at least 50% territories should have just something.

I love huge maps, but yet, the amount of resources is not huge.

I also find, as OP says, the resources tend to be on the other continent - even with the new settings. There's (rarely) a huge amount near your starting location. That gives the AI an advantage.

The new setting button has no meaning for the resource distribution of the huge map.
